Charlie Sheen Gives Lindsay Lohan Advice On 'Dan Patrick Show'

Sheen Lohan

They say the best advice comes from experience. In that case, Lindsay Lohan may want to listen to these very, very wise words.

Charlie Sheen made appearances on Monday and then again on Wednesday on DirectTV's "The Dan Patrick Show," talking his battle with addiction -- and, when asked, giving a few words of advice to Lohan, who is suffering with her own addiction and legal issues.

"You get Lindsay on the show, I will call in," he told Patrick. "I've got some advice for her. I've got some things I would recommend she consider because I don't tell anybody what to do. Work on your impulse control. Just try to think things through a little bit before you do them.

"I was not there in the store, the necklace, the thing, the bracelet, who cares? They're so desperate to vilify without fact," he continued, talking about her felony theft charges and lashing out at a media he's battled with himself.

Good advice for the both of them.

Sheen didn't let himself off the hook, either.

"People need to understand how supremely grateful I am that someone stepped in here," he said about the intervention that followed an epic weekend of partying and doing drugs with porn stars. "I don't want to say who, but you know, basically, Viacom showed up at my house and said 'Dude, it's getting really obvious and we're really worried about you. We don't give a rat's tooey about the show, we care about your health.' So, they came in and just man to man and said 'We have to shut it down.'"

Sheen then spent a few weeks rehabbing in his home.

The troubled star also insisted that he never showed up on set drunk or on drugs -- but he didn't always give it his all.

"The shape I was showing up in was epic, was beyond comprehension," Sheen admitted. "[I've] never been drunk, never been high on the set once. But, I would show up not having slept much. Doing a network run through and asking the director, Jamie, to move my mark a little bit so I could be next to a piece of furniture or a table so I wouldn't fall over. That is an expert move by a seasoned professional. I'm sorry, an amateur stays on his mark and then falls over during the run through."

Sheen also mentions a girlfriend -- whom he says will remain nameless to avoid "turning her life upside down."

You can listen to the interview here -- all quotes come courtesy of DirectTV's "The Dan Patrick Show."

Oh Charlie! He's the bad boy of Peter Pan's group of lost boys! Lovable to the end! His is one of only a very few shows I watch on TV, and I'd like to see him able to do a few more years, so we can see Jake grow up!

Charlie Sheen should not give any advice, unless its for himself. I am not surprised, that he still cannot admit that he is a drug addict, because he is not ready to give up drugs. In his age, he should have a lot more sense. He does not even care, that someday, his childen will find out, what a egomaniac he was and that drugs, came before them. He has had so many chances, its time for him and CBS to cancel his sitcom. So fas CBS is only enabling for Sheen.

Okay, without reading any of the other comments yet.....I heard his interview on Dan Patrick and he sounds full of denial. I sense that because I have experience with this stuff personally. Diverting attention to Li Lo and not focusing on self, classic shifting of self focus because it is too painful. He said he doesn't believe in AA? Well it is the most successful program, jus sayin". But I know it's not for everyone.

Yea, my ex who is stil an alcoholic unwilling to admit that he has a drinking problem used to use that same tactic of diverting attention away from himself. He would never answer a direct question, ever. If I suggested that he had a problem with dringking his reply would be "your father has a drinking problem" diverting attention from self continually. They are brilliantly manipulative almost to the point of being diabolical. I still think Charlie's problems are routed in mental illness and the drinking and drugging are the way in which he self medicate. I do not see a happy ending with Charlie Sheen. Is the stigma of mental illness so strong that one would be willing to drink themselves to death rather than admit they may have a mental disease? If one doesn't believe in AA what options are there?

Nice sarcasm. I like it, I really do. It gives me a chance to elaborate in a more serious way. The reason I have a difficult time mustering any semblance of compassion for the likes of Lohan and Sheen relates to several personality traits they seem to share. Their arrogant attitude, lack of remorse and sense of entitlement. These people have been so revered by their fan base that they actually believe that the law should not apply to them in the same way it does to the rest of society. That is absolute HOGWASH!

I had a brother, he was my Identical Twin brother. He died a direct result of hi "Alcoholism". I Have been sober for 24yrs. I have been a member of alcoholics anonymous for 24yrs. Alcoholism and drug abuse goes much deeper than one would think. I am actually discouraged by Charlies, "Home Detox Plan". Obviously, he cannot just start showing up at any neighborhood A.A.,meeting, but given his history I would say that an "In House", recovery program would be more appropriate. This is a serious national problem, I wish him the best!

They should hook up. It would be a relationship made in he//, but at least they would spare two other innocent people from dating them.
