Chris Lee, Shirtless Congressman, Reportedly Sent Craigslist Photo During GOP Retreat In Baltimore

First Posted: 02/16/11 11:21 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:30 PM ET

Former Rep. Chris Lee (R-N.Y.), the congressman who resigned last week after a Gawker report surfaced showing that he had sent a shirtless picture of himself to a woman on Craigslist, reportedly carried out the questionable deed while on the GOP's annual retreat, according to the New York Post.

The Post reports:

Sources say Lee was at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott with House Republicans for the 2011 Republican Retreat on Jan. 14. After a lecture on "intelligent use of information technology" which clearly didn't sink in -- and a few drinks at a pub near the hotel with Rep. Duncan Hunter, Rep. Bill Shuster and Rep. Tom Rooney, Lee headed back to his room, a spy said, just in time to send a few flirty messages to Callahan.

According to Gawker, the correspondence between Lee and the potential Craigslist suitor, Yesha Callahan, did indeed take place on Jan. 14th and during the early hours of the morning on the 15th, the dates of the retreat.

Fox News reports that EDUCAUSE, an organization "whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology," joined the Republican attendees at the event, though there is no information about who was present at their seminar.

Man, this is just too good. It's the perfect metaphor the whole of the GOP, it says everything anybody needs to know about who and what they are. Classic.

This is oxymoronic on so many levels. Intelligent use of information technology deals with advancement, progress, education and, as stated, intelligence. These are all just words to the GOP, as they are about none of these things. Done at a GOP retreat? When the Republicans meet it is more of a strategizing session dealing with the latest assaults on American. The only way I will ever accept the word "retreat" when dealing with the GOP will be when they are retreating from this country. They have become no more to this country than a rogue group, comparable to militant marauders in third world countries. The only differences are that our marauders were elected by the ignorant, misinformed, gullible masses. The other difference is that their uniforms are Armani suits and they sleep in 5-star hotels rather than jungles. Third-world marauders do not, however, pretend to be the best thing for their people. Hypocrisy seems to be one of the more obvious methods used by the tyrants in this Republic.

The GOP attended a seminar with the word 'intelligent' in the title? This story can't be true. No way. C'mon what do you take me for?

Any time a representative plays God with your body (anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, etc.) then s/he is fair game for exposure and ridicule when s/he cannot control his/her own body. He was absolutely correct in resigning, and the fact he did so quickly without trying to blame it on anyone else makes me admire him, at least for that action.

What a shame...What was he thinking? This is sad.

Oh nevermind Jack. I guess he wasn't thinking when he posted that shirtless picture?

1. A man not wearing a shirt in a photo is not a big deal....

2. However the fact that he is a member of the GOP. married, claims he is a member of the religious right and then sends shirtless pics to women is a big deal....

3. At least he resigned unlike ensign who not only didn't resign is going to run once again!

For aesthetic reasons, he should have left the shirt on.
