CNN's Ben Wedeman First Western Journalist In Libya

CNN Reporter The First To Make It Into Libya

On Monday, CNN's Cairo Bureau Chief, Ben Wedeman, became the first Western journalist to make it into Libya to witness the massive protests, and the government's brutal crackdown, in the country.

International journalists have been virtually barred from Libya, making it much more difficult to report on what is going on there than it was even in Egypt.

Wedeman began reporting from an undisclosed location in Eastern Libya on Monday night. He tweeted about what he saw on the Libyan border:

"Libyan side of border controlled by untrained volunteers armed with shotguns, Ak-47s. No passport formalities."

Here's one of Wedeman's reports from Libya.
