National Margarita Day 2011: Behold Today's Golden Salty Glory! (PHOTOS)

Tuesday is National Margarita Day, an occasion which some people may mark with an all-day happy hour, while those that don't probably should.

Ever since Barman "Willie" concocted the first Margarita around 1934 for Marguerite Hemery in Mexico City, the cocktail has lubricated many a drunken bachelorette party, cruise, Cinco De Mayo and backyard BBQ.

But on this glorious National Margarita Day 2011 we want to hear about those places where you've enjoyed a margarita, even if you can't remember where it was and only have photographic proof.

To truly savor a Margarita, you have to be sitting on a palm lined, gorgeous white sand beach in Mexico staring at the turquoise water,the brilliant bouganvillea and hibiscus, listening to the waves, some local music and sipping a fine Margarita made with fresh lime juice, good tequila, and touch of good triple sec.

March 1st ... even we extraneous Mex-Ams living and working over here (Europe) have that one marked on our calendars. You haven't lived until you see an Englishman's eyes light-up with a new appreciation for the lone Mex-Am he hired.

I really do believe ... "That the way to an Englishman's hardened-heart is through a Margarita." (hey, any drink with the same name as my mother's - can't be bad)

If you use Oro (Silver) Tequila, fresh lime juice, sugar and ice, it is white. Especially if you make it frozen.

La Salsa Cantina on the Strip in Vegas. On the rocks w/Patron & salt. 6-7 shots of tequila for ~$20 (a bargain by Vegas Strip drink standards)...everything is extra happy and funny after that drink.
