Robert Mugabe turned 87 years old today, amid lingering reports of health issues and mounting calls for him to resign.

Despite the rising tensions, the Zimbabwean president was shown on state television blowing out candles and sharing a cake with family members and staff.

In honor of Mugabe's birthday, take a look back at some of the leader's most infamous quotes:

"I am still the Hitler of the time," Mugabe once infamously boasted. "This Hitler has only one objective: justice for his people, sovereignty for his people, recognition of the independence of his people and their rights over their resources. If that is Hitler, then let me be Hitler tenfold. Ten times, that is what we stand for."

He is right about keeping African land in African hands, get out and stay out Brits and Americans.
And any aid given by European countries or America is owed to Africa no thanks necessary. I hope Zimbabwe will be blessed with another leader as strong and smart as Robert Mugabe.

Happy Birthday Mr President, and many more.

Mugabe took that country from prospering democracy to hell on earth in a matter of 15 years. This no longer has anything to do with Britain. And it never had anything to do with America because we have no significant ties to Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe was given independence from Britain in 1980. Robert Mugabe then became the prime minister and later the president. First order of business he killed 20,000s of his fellow black Africans and tortured many more. So, lets just be honest, he is a Dictator, not a President.

Land reform - the redistribution of land from whites, to blacks was not a bad idea but it was perpetuated in a violent and criminal manner. Not to mention that Mugabe distributed land only to his corrupt cronies who then destroyed it and made in unfarmable. Zimbabwe was once the "breadbasket" of Africa, with an abundance of food, now it needs aid to keep the populace from starving. But, I go news for you, that aid goes directly in to the pockets of Mugabe and his cronies.

Also I am not sure if you know this but in 2008 Morgan Tsvangirai won the presidential elections in Zimbabwe with 60% of the vote. Robert Mugabe refused to give up his position and later failed to honor a power sharing agreement. If you think that Mugabe cares about Zimbabweans you are dead wrong. He and his thugs have killed thousands and the huge majority are black Africans and not white Africans.

Mubarak is not in the same realm of evil as Mugabe. Violence, rape, and murder are constant under the control of the ZANU PF party. The situation in Zimbabwe is very different than Egypt. There are no network news cameras running there.

How old is he now? 200? Seems like he's been around forever. Unfortunately the people he rules are not as brave as the ones in Egypt and other places because this dictator needs to go too.

86 or 87 I think.

"Unfortunately the people he rules are not as brave as the ones in Egypt" - what qualifies you to say that? First of all Egypt is a completely different situation, where the people were protected by the moderate military. Most of the people who protest in Zimbabwe are already dead, tortured or have left the country. There is no international media in Zimbabwe to shine a light on the violence. Also, 15% of the population has aids, Cholera has broken out, 80% are unemployed, and the population is starving. If you protest in Zimbabwe, you will be beaten and tortured. If you are a member of the wrong political party you might be burned alive or your wife might be kidnapped and murdered while you are out. The fact that there is still protests and public opposition to Mugabe is proof enough that Zimbabweans are brave.

I agree with you but even with him out of power ZANU PF is a huge problem for zimbabwe. I think getting rid of Mugabe is the first step though.
