In the magazine's March issue, Vogue writer Gully Wells visited Food Network star and First Girlfriend of New York Sandra Lee at her home in Mount Kisco, New York. Governor Andrew Cuomo's better half discussed her "belly," her beau, and her fashion preferences.

On her eating habits:

“I’m a meat-and-potatoes girl, but I still have to watch it,” she says, giggling as she whips up her sweater to reveal, sweetly but somewhat disingenuously, an expanse of perfectly smooth alabaster skin without the merest hint of any bulge.

On marrying her boyfriend, Governor Andrew Cuomo:

“Well, I did it once”—in her 30s she married a real estate mogul in Los Angeles—“and as I was walking up the aisle I remember thinking, It’s not too late to run.” But of course it was, and five years later they divorced. “Right now I’m happy being a girlfriend, but someday Andrew and I will get there. When his kids say we need to, we will.” '

On why the interior of her home is all-white:

"Yes, I love white, and I’d wear it all the time if I could. Some people think I have an issue with cleanliness, but to me it’s just so pretty.”

On her fashion choices:

“For simpler things like sweaters, I love Ann Taylor and Talbots. Although I did splurge on a Bottega Veneta gold satin jacket this season to wear over a white—I know!—Carolina Herrera cocktail dress. My audience knows me, and I wear beautiful clothes as a badge of honor. They remember where I came from.”

I absolutely adore her. Cuomo is lucky to have her. Some of the things she makes are questionable (Kwanza cake anyone?), but she's tougher than many realize and genuine.

she is a sweetheart, and i hope her and andrew will stay happy together. and, her show is meant to teach busy people how to do cook big with very little. we could all learn from her in that way. she is a good lady and i think her and the gov are happy in love, bless them.

and the pope owns 51% of general motors, and the stock exchange...

Every time that I see Sandra Lee mentioned, I keep mistakenly thinking that it's mentioning Sandra Dee.

I would feel sorry for any man who would have to live in "white" everywhere. It hurts even to look at her all white pictures. Do you have a problem with germs?

You REALLY need to watch her show, she's famous for her Kwanzaa cake, google it. Better yet, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we2iWTJqo98. You're welcome.

I heard about (and saw) CAKE-GATE.
It was shocking, as I really couldn't believe she was being serious with that nonsense.

Clearly, she's a FAKER & I can understand why folks would be VERY UPSET about her ENTIRE FOOLERY FACADE.

Having said that, she has scored a big fish, she's beautiful & she seems to be living large.

Wish I could say the same.

I wonder if she is related to former press secretary Dana Perino, the resemblance is striking.

I didn't like her show because it just seem not authentic. She always wanted the viewers to know where she came from and I always felt I was seeing Doris Day cooking in the kitchen. Cooking Channel has more authentic chefs than Food Network.

Cooking Channel is owned by Food TV but FTV is going downhill fast.

I know. Just about every commercial for Cooking channel mentions that it was created by Food Network. I haven't watched FTV in years. Many of the chefs I enjoyed have left, Mario, Emeril, etc.

Oh I so agree with you. What happened to them?! It used to be full of wonderful interesting and knowledgeable chefs and cooks. And now, well at least the Barefoot contessa is there and Giada but other than that, it's got horrible programming. I used to get so many ideas from their shows but they went down the wrong road and I don't see them coming back anytime soon.
