Gabriel Aubry: Nahla's NYC Caretaker While Halle Berry Shoots Film?

It's a big city, but this could still get pretty awkward.

Radar Online reports that after Halle Berry won the right to take daughter Nahla -- the 2 1/2 year old daughter caught in the middle of a bitter custody dispute -- to New York City while she filmed "New Year's Eve," ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry decided that he'd come along for the ride, too. In fact, Radar reports, Aubry is moving to NYC for as long as Nahla is there -- and becoming Mr. Mom.

Aubry, who in December raised the bitter custody suit that has become a racially-tinged back-and-forth, is renting an apartment in New York and will be Nahla's primary caretaker for the duration of the filming, Radar says.

"The agreement at the moment is that Gabriel will be primary caregiver to Nahla during the time Halle is working, but nothing is set in stone, or agreed in writing, so we will have to just see how that goes," a source told the website.

Associates of Berry claimed that Nahla was terrified of Aubry, though this news may mean that isn't true.

Aubry has dropped the custody suit, but is still pursuing more legal rights with his daughter through a paternity action.

Funny…Aubry is the same person who basically said to Halle “leave Nahla here you’ll only be away one week”, but now that Halle has permission from a judge to take Nahla with her for that week he can’t stand to be without Nahla for a week he tried to deny Halle so he’s compelled to follow them to NYC. Aubry is talking out of his a**. I believe like some other posters here that Aubry wants to stick as closely to Nahla as possible in order to get child support. After all if he had the gall to initially sue for full custody and spousal support (before he withdrew that suit), no doubt because his attorneys reminded him that he was never married to Halle, it’s clear he’s looking for a payday. At least the know-it-alls on TMZ (TMZ Live) seem to believe this is all going away soon as they predict Aubry will get a check from Halle relatively soon. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I find it rather unfortunate that too many people would find it unbelievable that a father would not want his daughter to be dragged around state to state like some kind of designer accessory.

Who in their right mind would want to be in Gabriel's place. You have this influencial ex-partner who is determined to get her way so she can be with her daughter all the time but is completely unwilling to downplay her career and provide the child with the stable lifestyle she deserves.

Let's face it, women can't always have it all. It is very hard to have a child and be dragging them everywhere, its unfair and its selfish and that sums up Halle's action.

Get over yourself, man. You had a baby with an A-list actress. Did you think she was going to be working from home every day. She travels the world to shoot movies. That's what actresses do! And she will only be gone for a few weeks. Either fly your useless behind there to visit or wait till she returns to Cali.

Aubry should be getting photo shoots with his daughter (use her like JLO uses her kids) and therefore making money. He seems to be totally in love with his daughter (and she with him) and Halle shouldn't interrupt this love affair. Just because Halle's relationship with her dad went sour, she shouldn't do the same to her daughter. I hope Halle's mom is putting some wise words in her ears.

I hate to be a naysayer but as I see it -- she's not getting a lot of movie roles. She's at best a B-list actress even after winning the Award. She's like Gwyn....they were on top and fell to the next level because of poor movie choices. The most money she makes comes from modeling -- and who wants to be a model at 44 y.o. and rely on that as your only source of income?
