WEEHAWKEN, N.J. — The center tube of the Lincoln Tunnel has reopened, hours after a crash involving a motorcycle and three buses.

Port Authority spokeswoman Jennifer Friedberg says the tube was reopened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m., about three-quarters of the way toward Manhattan in the tunnel that connects New Jersey and New York City. The accident is under investigation.

Friedberg says the motorcycle rider is in critical condition.

New York City's Fire Department says there are about 50 other injuries, but none is life-threatening. Fifteen of the injured were sent to hospitals.

Friedberg says NJ Transit operated two of the buses and Monsey Tours operated the third.

She says extensive traffic delays have eased.

How long until Bloomberg proposed bike lanes for the tunnel? I'm sorry, that was wrong. How long until Bloomberg imposes bike lanes, without any public input, in the tunnel?

Lincoln Tunnel center tube is a head-on collision/motorcyclist nightmare in the making. Surprised it's a critical condition report and not a straight-up DOA.
