After warning all civilians that her Oscars outfit would be a catastrophe, Helena Bonham Carter turned up at Sunday night's Oscars looking decidedly put-together, give or take a patriotic garter. We almost thought the actress was toting a folding fan, for which we would have given her mad props...but it turns out it's a clutch. Oh well.

It's not a catastrophe. She was incredibly impressive in "The King's Speech," moreso than Firth even, to me, and also terrific as a very large head in her husband's 'Alice in Wonderland." She can wear what she wants.
