The Hollywood Reporter:

In what could go down as one of the worst Oscar telecasts in history, a bad and risky idea -- letting two actors host -- played out in spectacularly unwatchable fashion on the biggest of all nights for the film world.

Despite an overall rewarding of brilliant performances and no truly shocking didn't-see-that-coming upsets, the 83rd Annual Academy Awards will likely be remembered as the night James Franco couldn't act like a host.

I knew this would happen as soon as soon as I saw an ad for the thing featuring them. Where's Steve Martin?

52% of Californian voters stumbled with Prop 8 on 11/4/08, but our governors (Schwarzenegger & Brown), our attorneys general (Brown & Harris) and our federal courts have been doing right ever since. I am confident we will eliminate this form of unconstitutional discrimination this year. And meanwhile, the harmful stay should be lifted.

Honestly, who cares? In the scheme of things, whether Franco was too cool for school or Hathaway pranced about like a caffeinated filly for 4 hours really makes no difference at all whatsoever, for all time.

Its a bloated awards dinner for actors that's gotten way out f control. When scientists, educators, firemen or businessmen hold awards ceremonies for their own, do they feel the need to broadcast it across the planet? No, only the inflated egos of Hollywood have blown this affair up into a night of perilously high expectation and continual let down.

Let's put our collective psyche's attention towards something better - like solving some of earth's pressing problems or finding the beauty in the people around us.

i don't think the actors are the ones that 'feel the need' to broadcast it... it's the networks that know the real reason the oscars is what it is- the audience. They can get a ton of eyeballs on a screen at the same time and show them ads, that's it. If it was an awards show for scientists...good luck, lol

I though James Franco did a great job hosting the Oscars....I like the dry sense of humor. There is a website www.whoismrpink.com You can cast your vote on who you would like to see play the leading role in the movie Mr. Pink. Right now James Franco is in second place. Cast your vote

It's your own fault if you actually watch this show. Waste the time with something else and read the summary. At least it wasn't as bad at the Super Bowl half-time show.

Sheesh, what a disaster!

The trick is to DVR the show and watch it the next day. You can cut three hours to about 45 minutes.

When the show started with the hosts introducing their moms and dads and grannies, I thought it couldn't get any worse. What do I know? It got worse.
