Oscars 2011 Best-Dressed: See Who Took Home The Top Honors (PHOTOS)

The biggest stars of the red carpet on Sunday night were not the stars themselves, but their dates. See: Matthew McConaughey's girlfriend Camila Alves, Mark Wahlberg's wife Rhea Durham, Mark Ruffalo's wife Sunrise Coigney, and the women flanking Giorgos Lanthimos (the director of "Dogtooth"--we had to Google that).

We also applaud the red carpet risk-takers. Helena Bonham Carter can never be accused of being dull, and tonight she did not disappoint. Mainly for the fact that she doesn't seem to give a damn, we have included her in this list. She is truly fearless.

Tonight was also a night of firsts: it marks Celine Dion's debut on any best-dressed list we've ever done.

Does the clothes make the woman or the woman make the clothes? Some women look good in virtually anything. I liked Scarlott J's dress; nice and snug.

Scarlett Johansson's dress looked hideous on her! I was sure it was going to make the worst dressed list! What exactly is their criteria to decide who looks best? because some people on the worst dressed list, I thought looked just fine, like Jennifer Hudson...

WOW!!!

I counted eight posts about ho wore what and who said what and who was and was not funny.

What I could not find is a single post telling us who won what and why they were so special in what they did.

You know what? - That is the exact problem our economy and our political system has. We blabber about irrelevant byplay so much that what it is all about does not even enter the discussion.

All I know is there was NOTHING wrong with Jennifer Hudson's gown!!! Go girl. And from this 68 year old white guy....Dreamgirls is probably a better musical than Sound of Music. Art is in the eye of the beholder, always then ..never now, and then there is group think. The latter two .. not giving Dreamgirls it's do.

I completely agree! I just loved Reese Witherspoon's retro look last night. I hated Cate Blanchett's dress. Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis were both flawless though.

Scarlett Johanson's dress isn't exactly horrible, but I gave her a "1" for wearing what I'm quite sure is the tackiest ring ever crafted by human hands. It looks like something a propmaster would create when told to make "the gaudiest and tackiest piece of misspent wealth to ever grace a finger."

The shoulder pad on Sunrise Coigney's dress makes it look like she has a man arm. Or a horrible tumor on her shoulder. A shame too, because it'd be a really nice design otherwise. But the shoulder pad takes it straight into "What we're you thinking."

And why is Cate Blanchett wearing a left-over costume from Clash of the Titans?
