Melo Pens Thank You Letter To Denver Fans

Weeks after Carmelo Anthony pressured the Denver Nuggets to trading him to the New York Knicks, the all-star forward has penned a letter to Denver fans thanking them for their support over the years.

In the letter, posted on Anthony's web site, Melo credits the city of Denver and the Nuggets for 8 years of support.

The gesture comes after what was initially a tumultuous exit from Denver. Soon after the Nuggets executed the trade, Denver coach George Karl admitted at times being "frustrated" by Anthony's lack of "defensive focus," and "demand of himself."

Anthony responded with several tweets, widely assumed to be aimed at Karl. "WHEN THE GRASS IS CUT THE SNAKES WILL SHOW," he wrote.

The Nuggets had been actively seeking to Trade Anthony since last summer, when he refused to sign a lucrative long-term deal with the team. The Knicks had been widely reported to be Melo's destination of choice.

Anthony faced boos from Nuggets fans at various times throughout the year.

READ THE LETTER:

I had to let you know how I felt about you, the city, my fans, my friends. You've been supportive of me and my NBA career for the past 8 years and that doesn't go unnoticed.

Drafted when I was 19 I called Denver and the Nuggets my home. The city and the fans embraced me and watched me grow as a man and a player.

There are no words to express the gratitude and appreciation I have for Denver, the Nuggets and all the fans.

You will always be a part of my heart.

One Love,

Melo
