17 Pit Bulls Seized In Dog Fighting BUST

LAKE LOS ANGELES, Calif. (AP) -- Seventeen pit bulls were seized during a Los Angeles sheriff's bust of an elaborate Mojave Desert dog fighting training center that included treadmills and surgical equipment to treat injured animals.

Deputies and animal control officers on Wednesday swooped down on the remote Lake Los Angeles home that's 17 miles east of Palmdale and about 70 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

They arrested 43-year-old Jesse Jimenez and his 41-year-old wife, Yvette Jimenez.

Sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker says in a news release that the couple has been booked for investigation of felony dog fighting and possession of cocaine. Their four children were taken into protective custody.
