Glenn Beck: Hillary Clinton's Al Jazeera Comments 'Insanity' (VIDEO)

Glenn Beck

On his Friday radio show, Glenn Beck called Hillary Clinton's comments about Al Jazeera and U.S. media "insanity," and said she was "promoting" a channel he called "the propaganda arm of the Middle East and Islamic extremism."

Beck was not happy with Clinton, who has garnered attention for her testimony about the media before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday.

Clinton said the U.S. is losing the "information war" in the world because other countries' media outlets are shaping peoples' attitudes more effectively than American media. She contrasted Al Jazeera, which she called "real news," with American media, which she said consisted of "of a million commercials and arguments between talking heads."

Beck was scornful about Clinton's remarks.

"We knew it was the propaganda arm of the Middle East and Islamic extremism," he said. "We knew it. Now suddenly we're all saying, oh, yeah, Al Jazeera, there's real news for you."

Clinton, Beck said, was "promoting" Al Jazeera to American audiences.

"You have the Secretary of State of the United States of America saying you cannot get real news here in America," he said. "You can only get it from Al Jazeera and everybody knows it. This is insanity."

Beck said Clinton was "promoting" a channel he called "the propaganda arm of the Middle East and Islamic extremism."

Beck should know about being a propaganda arm; he's in the propaganda arm of the Republican Party, i.e., Fox "News."

Beck this a lot. Because of his purposeful deceptions and his profound ignorance, he has on credibility at all. And yet, he'll point his fat finger of accusation at ABC and claim that they have no credibility. On one level, this is just projection as F. Zakaria has pointed out; but on another level it's sheer hypocrisy on Beck's part, one of many examples of hypocrisy that he's demonstrated over the last 10 months.

I began the Review knowing that Beck is a liar, but I have since realized that he's an ignorant hypocrite, a charlatan and a manipulative propagandist. Becoming a Beckologist has been the oddest experience of my life. It's amazing what this CONvincing liar can make people believe. He is a living paradox.

Of course, the bobbing heads don't want to acknowledge truth. Instead they want to run commercials selling their overpriced gold coins and malarkey. Don't forget that Fox won the right in court to misrepresent facts and lie.

He would know, unfortunately for him he has no credibility..

Apparently Beck has never seen Al Jazeera, at least never really WATCHED it. If you take a broadcast from Al Jazeera and remove all references to the network-logos, promos, etc and watched just a bunch of clips of the anchors and reporters doing their jobs-you'd probably think that you were watching the BBC. I hear more anti-American (or specifically anti-Obama) comments on FOX than I do on Al Jazeera. It's really rather nice to be able to watch 60 minutes of news and not see a single story about Charlie Sheen or the latest 'reality'-TV show.

HC is NOT insane. GB, on the other hand is. His insanity seems to be working for him - he's still on the insane network.

Al Jazeera is a better source of news than anything on Fox.

I guess to Beck (and his guests) talking heads endlessly repeating the sound bites that have been crafted by PR firms is 'informative'.

In reality, they are as informative and newsworthy as the 'infomercials' that fill up the overnight slots on a lot of stations.

Mrs. Clinton is absolutely correct. In the good old days when CNN ran in 1/2 hour segments (does HLN do that now?) it gave real news as in what's happening now? And, it covered the world. Now, the three main news channels do spend way too much time talking about the subject of the week.
Seeing the same headlines repeat every half-hour is boring, but then watching "news" all day is even less useful. CNN, MSNBC, and Fox are too busy trying to keep us entertained, and we Americans are too "egotistical" to care about the rest of the world unless it affects our gas prices.

I bet Glenn Beck has never watched Al Jazeera -- either the Arabic or the English channels. The English-language version is a good and credible news outlet. His comments are based on what he's heard about the Arabic-language version.

Oh, he actually might have.  But he is relying on his audience never having done so, or dismissing the news stories as extremely biased propaganda, as they are not biased towards the US point of view.

His view of AJ is based in reality as much as anything reported on Fox News.

After giving this story some thought, I have to agree with those criticizing Secretary Clinton. This line was what brought that agreement into focus:

"Clinton said the U.S. is losing the "information war" in the world because other countries' media outlets are shaping peoples' attitudes more effectively than American media"

Looking at it that way, American Media is not trying to shape peoples attitudes in other countries. Their focus is on shaping attitudes here in America, and only here in America. Foreign owned American press seems to be bent on destroying America, while corporate owned press seems to be focused on distracting Americans, keeping them from noticing the abuses of their corporate masters.

ah, the caliphate guy.

he works for fox hence news corp, a company that also owns the wall street journal. his boss is rupert murdoch. the saudi king has a significant minority stake in the umbrella group, news corp (last time i checked).

if he's so afraid of muslims and his precious caphilate, why does he make a profit for one?
