Orrin Hatch: Health Care Law 'Worse' Than An 'Awful Piece Of Crap' (VIDEO)

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) doubled down on his recent excoriation of the health care law Thursday, sparing the profanity but claiming that he actually thought the measure was "a lot worse" than the "awful piece of crap" he had described it as last week.

In an interview with Fox News' Greta Van Susteren, Hatch was asked if he really, as he earlier told a group of Utah State University Republicans, thought the health care law was "a dumb-ass program" and an "awful piece of crap."

"I guess I should tell you how I really feel, because it's a lot worse than that," Hatch responded.
"It really is a bad piece of legislation, everybody knows that including the president."

Hatch then claimed that the failure of the program would lead to a single-payer system, or, as he described it, the "Washington take over of health care."

Many have argued that Hatch's pointed and public assault on health care is a sign that the veteran senator is trying to endear himself with the Tea Party constituents who appear to hold increasing power in the state of Utah.

Conservative activists unhappy with Hatch's record, which includes prior support of the individual mandate, a mechanism in the current health care bill that some have attacked as unconstitutional, have vowed to field a primary challenger.

Last month, Freshman Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) a member of the Tea Party Caucus, exemplified the difficulty of Hatch's situation when he announced that he wouldn't endorse his colleague for reelection.
