Radhey Shyam Roy, Indian Executive Burned To Death By Fired Workers

03/ 4/11 02:37 AM ET   AP

BHUBANESHWAR, India — Indian police detained two people after an angry mob of fired workers burned to death a senior executive of a steel factory, an official said Friday.

After learning they were laid off, about a dozen workers attacked a vehicle carrying Radhey Shyam Roy as he was leaving the factory in eastern Orissa state on Thursday, dousing the Jeep with gasoline and setting it on fire, said police Superintendent Ajay Kumar Sarangi.

Two other people in the vehicle were allowed to flee but Roy, 59, was trapped inside and later died of severe burns, Sarangi said.

Police were questioning two workers and their formal arrest on murder charges was likely, Sarangi told The Associated Press. The steel factory is in Bolangir district, nearly 250 miles (400 kilometers) west of Bhubaneshwar, the capital of Orissa state.

Incidents of industrial violence are common in India, where workers often target executives in cases of wage disputes and job losses.

In 2008, scores of dismissed employees of an Italian manufacturing company, Graziano Transmissioni India, used iron rods and wooden sticks to beat to death the company's local chief executive officer on the outskirts of New Delhi.

Lost your job. Lost your pension. Lost your health insurance. Lost your home. Lost your American Dream.
Only a short news/talkshow away from... They took my job. They took my pension. They took my health insurance. They took my home. They took my dream. When you back even the most timid animal into a corner they will attack out of fear. How many Americans are afraid right now?

Gotta give it to them ... actions speak louder than words. Sadly because money and politics collude to form power, the only result will be cuts in rights for workers and extension of "security forces" and powers for the powerful. To really work we'd need to rid ourselves of the top 2% - 10% in one fell swoop.

Sounds like the workers "fired" him back. Turnabout is fair play.

So the acceptable response to being fired from a job is to murder your boss?

Spontaneous "mob justice" is common in India. A bus driver involved in a fatal accident will flee as a mob will soon form and probably kill him otherwise.

Asians don't play.........I salute them for standing up for the workers.
In China and Japan the CEO will commit suicide if their company goes bankrupt. In China many executives are thrown in jail for mis managing their companies.

In America the CEO's bankrupt their company and tlay off thousands of workers and these guys don't feel any shame.

Time for Americans to get tough with the Corporations, Bankers and Wallstreet and the Politicians who look the other way while America becomes a third world country.

Wouldn't that be cool!

All the CEO's and Directors of the bailed out Wall Strret firms committed ritual hari kari today.

They willed all their money and worldly possessions to the Treasury of the United States of Americal.

That inclused all those trust funds based in the Cayman's, or were they in the Guernsey's?, or Liechtenstein??, or Switzerland?????, no ... I'm sure it was Monaco! Yeah ... That's it. Monaco.
Or ... wait, Montenegro. I keep getting those confused.

Daniel Pinchbeck, in a book of his, asked a Hopi elder what he thought should be done about the road through their land, built by Government for Peabody Corp. The Hopi man said, "Hack it to pieces." When Pinchbeck asked what should be done with the people who are responsible for Government collusion allowing Peabody Corp. to remove coal from Hopi lands, and consequently, drain in short order the aquifier Hopi have relied on for thousands of years, that is central to their survival, the old man said, "Cut off their heads."

Just remember: Violent revolution has never brought us anything but a different kind of tyranny.

From boardrooms, to backroom sweatshops all across America, if you think this this can't happen in our country, you've got another think coming! The working people of our country have HAD IT, and we're not going to be bullied any more! We're not going to let our jobs be lost to people in third world countries, who are willing to work for pennies, so you increase profits for stockholders! We're not going to stand idly by while you continue to rape this country, and then steal it blind! NO MORE!

The Corporations (and their Congressmen) may have the money and the airwaves... but, we've got the people... and we outnumber you 'lazy slobs,' seven hundred and seventy-five thousand to one! If you think you can fight those odds... we're about to see. Your gated communities aren't going to protect you! Your hired thugs won't protect you! All the money in the world isn't going to protect you, when the American people finally stand up and spit in your eye!

There's a reckoning coming in this country, and it starts March 30th. Join us that day. Stay at home, Don't buy anything. If you've had enough, and want to make your voices heard, this is the best way to do it... by hitting the corporations (and Wall Street) right in the wallet!

Stand UP for America! Stay HOME for America!

Personally, I thought this country was nuts when it decided that a corporation had the same rights and protections as it's citizens. But, more important to your post, I suggest you glance through Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. I think the lesson there is, don't blame the corporation for coming into existence. Don't blame the creator of the business for creating the jobs. If you can do better, come up with an idea, fund it, sell it, create jobs and run it how you like.

Are you as appalled by this act of capital punishment, as you are when it happens in the US? Do you think it's ok to execute board members and leaders, but bad to execute murderers and rapists? I'm just curious.

I hope your "stand UP for America!" program is about bringing standing against the tyranny of the mob. Because, if you are advocating murder for political means, then how different are you from the people you oppose?

"....But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."

The Declaration of Independence, 1776

Different people may have different ideas about when it becomes their duty to act, mightn't they?
