Runaway Dog Hides In Family's Refrigerator In Arizona

YUMA, Ariz. — A runaway dog darted into an Arizona apartment and found a cool place to hide – the bottom of the refrigerator.

A Yuma Fire Department spokesman says the family told firefighters the pooch rushed into their home when they opened the front door and kept snapping at them.

When they went to the fridge to get some food to try to lure the dog outside, the animal jumped in the appliance and refused to come out.

Firefighters found the small black terrier-type dog crouched on the bottom shelf, snapping at anyone who approached. They used protective gear to pick up the pooch and put it in a carrier.

The dog had been reported missing by someone else at the apartment complex and was returned home safely.

Hard to believe someone felt it necessary to involve expensive emergency services, 911 and the fire department out for something this minor! Get a blanket and a broom for crying out loud! Whatever happened to self reliance?

Avatar would probably just sit on their sofa with arms (front paws) crossed on its back, looking pensive...she would also appreciate a dry fig to eat and a cupboard box to play, if they had one.

She's polite that way.

There's a TV Commercial showing a gal in a peignoir inviting a racoon into the house, thinking it's her cat - I always think of Michelle Bachman when I see it. I think it's a Pearle Vision spot!

When I read the headline, I thought OMG, someone locked the puppy in a fridge?? But I'm glad it wasn't like that. My beautiful boy kitty Red was found by the maintenance people at my complex, locked in a vacated apartment. Fortunately, it hadn't been too long as he was in fine shape, and now he lives the Tiger King life with me and my sweetie. I simply canNOT fathom what goes on in the heads of humans who'd do such a thing...
