Zimbabwe To Sell Uranium To Iran: Reports

Zimbabwe Iran

First Posted: 03/07/11 01:38 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:35 PM ET

The Telegraph:

Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Zimbabwe's foreign minister, said the sanctions -- which prohibit member states from providing Iran with raw materials that it could use to make a nuclear weapon -- were unfair and hypocritical.

He said that Zimbabwe, which is also the subject of sanctions over human rights abuses perpetrated by President Robert Mugabe's supporters, would benefit economically from the agreement.

A leaked intelligence report suggests Iran will be awarded with exclusive access to Zimbabwe's uranium in return for providing the country with fuel.

If it is somebody's business, it is th UN general assembly.

It is time for US to stop to act as police hired by Israel.

Would it be fair to simply intercept and take it away? No wars and no attacking Iran.
10:48 AM on 03/09/2011
That would be piracy and act of war, and we wouldn't be sure how Iranians would respond.

This is ridiculous. It isnt news it is provocation. We cant do anything about it after all free trade and free enterprise is good for the US and everyone else , even for nuclear weapons...we will all go together when we go
10:51 AM on 03/09/2011
Iranians don't have nuclear weapons, and already have more than enough Uranium to make about 50 bombs if they wanted to. As such, this is most likely a deal to get Uranium for a nuclear energy program. Power Plants requier about 80 to 90 tons of 4 to 5% enriched Uranium which means about 800 to 900 tons of raw Uranium, and they burn a few tons every year.

I hope the U.S. will not send that 573 million in aid to Zimbabwe now> Why do we always have to be the ATM of the friggin world?

Zimbabwe is a massive failure. Its about time someone apologized to the Rhodesians. They were absolutely correct about Mugabe.

I don't know whether Paulo is a white supremacist but he's right about Mugabe who, in addition to being a racist killer, is a black supremacist..

Zimbabwe is landlocked. Which of its neighbors is going to buy into this agreement and let the shipments through? A good reporter would ask.
07:37 PM on 03/08/2011
South Africa will. South Africa gets 40% of its oil from Iran, and the 2 have massive petrochemical projects and other invetment projects on the go. Although she abides by UNSC sanctions and is not selling Iran any Uranium, she is one of Iran's supporters at IAEA.

What our great friends are doing on this. This is the time to attack both Iran and Zimbabwe a big target. No! Why? not feeling well, loose motion because Mubarak gone, PM is having severe loose motion every second.

Americans are not happy over our behavior concerning settlement issue. Well, if situation in Mid-East run in our favor will attack Egypt first then Syria, Jordon and Saudi. We have launched Al Jazeera as our replacement of CNN and in it Mossad working under cover for us.

Well, a smart move indeed.
01:34 PM on 03/08/2011
Why in the world would you suggest attacking Iran... or Zimbabwe for that matter?

Hi! My Friend TeeSC thank you for your comment on FACTISFACT"S.
FACTISFACThas gone through your query and said what else he could do other than to request appropriate people to stop the selling and purchasing of WMD making elements. He added that is why he asked the Best ally of America to do it as it seemed safe as the best ally had been interested in bombarding Iran for the thing and of course Iran is its #1 enemy even now. The Best ally asked US many times to attack Iran but did not. May be this tiny country best ally was scared of being wiped out of the map as once Iran threatened it openly. .
However, thank you once again. Take Care

Lets play which dictator will go next by the will of the people: mumbengewi, imadinnerjacket, china and Kim Jong il. We don't need any military action, its been proven the will of the people is enough to bring down even the most corrupt governments.

Iran is not a threat to Australia, I'll grant you that, but the Iranian regime ran a long and vicious terror campaign in Europe immediately after their revolution some 30 years ago?

Just check out this nice little news clip from 1986 showing (mainly poor Muslim) French shoppers MURDERED by BOMBS by a network of Iranian terrorists, later found to have been operating from the Iranian embassy in Paris.

http://www.ina.fr/economie-et-societe/justice-et-faits-divers/video/CAB86024906/paris-attentat-tati-rue-de-rennes.fr.html

German and other posters can also post similar videos of atrocities committed by the very same nice people operating Iran today.

Thanks, but as much as I abhor Israel's bullying, mistreatment of Palestinians and all the rest, I think it is OBVIOUS that a nuclear armed Iran spells DISASTER for the entire Middle East and perhaps for Europe!

I wish they wouldn't do it. Too much nuke stuff on this finite planet as their is.

Israel could help by ceasing the missile rattling, but that seems to be too much to ask.

So a few hundred Zimbabwe miners get cancer and the Ayatollahs get yellow cake, Just the law of supply and demand, I guess.

Its a reptile world.

Its tough to bomb Zimbabwe. Have you paid attention to conditions there? A bombing would make a vast improvement and probably supply a better mine technology than they currently have.
