PHOTOS: 'World's Largest' Human Cross

Catholics around the world observed Ash Wednesday by getting their foreheads marked with ashes, while others began a solemn time of fasting for the duration of Lent in accordance with Christian tradition.

Filipino students at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila took their devotion to a spectacular new level by forming an enormous human cross, reportedly even breaking a record to become the world's largest.
