Hillary Clinton Shares Advice For Middleton Family, Will Definitely Watch Wedding On TV (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/09/11 12:06 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:35 PM ET

At the tail end of an interview with Hillary Clinton and the International Women of Courage Award winners, Sky News couldn't resist asking the secretary of state what advice she has for the Middleton clan. After all, it wasn't too long ago that Hillary was mother-of-the-bride.

Clinton remarked, "I can only tell you that the wedding itself was wonderful but the preparations, and I'm sure that they're feeling some of the same, can be stressful because you want it to be the most perfect day in your daughter's life and you just do everything you can to make it so. My advice is just enjoy it, enjoy it because it's the most extraordinary experience to see your daughter marrying someone who loves her, who wants to take care of her and you just want to be part of their happiness."

She said she'll definitely be in front of the television come April 29, adding, "Of course, of course, I love weddings."

Hillary is probably advising the young couple to drop bombs on arabs. She swears by it.

I highly doubt the Middletons will have much of a say in the planning of the wedding.

Ohh the interviewer is Kay Burley (Sky News, part of Murdoch's empire) Famous for asking questions no one else will ask, as evidenced here where she asks the ex-wife of a serial killer about her relationship with him.

I don't think the Middleton's are planning or paying for anything other than their clothing and maybe their limosines to the Abbey.

"it's the most extraordinary experience to see your daughter marrying someone who loves her, who wants to take care of her "
No wonder women take two steps forward and one step back if Ms. Clinton is still of that mindset. Surely no woman wants a man to "take care of her" in this day and age.

Knowing Hillary as the feminist she is, I'm pretty certain she didn't mean it that way, Selena.

Are you a mom of a daughter yet? I expect she meant, as all moms wish for their girls, that the extraordinary part is for the daughter to find love and someone who'll take care of her with emotional care and support. Not guardianship or paternalistic care.

My little one is just an infant, but I wish for both her and her college-aged sister that they may find a partner who'll care deeply for them. Communicate with them. Be honest and faithful. Be true, in other words. Financially, they'll be girls who can take care of themselves. We've already seen about that, just like the Clintons have with Chelsea. I think she meant finding a partner who'll take care of her the way loving husbands do.

One of the reasons I married my husband was because I had found someone to love who loved me back and I wanted to take care of him. In no way did I think he was weak or needed care but the nurturing side of me wanted to do it. He wanted to take care of me too.

The issue is not whether we can find someone to love who loves us back. It is not an issue of caring for those we love. The issue is that Ms. Clinton is accepting that a women has to have a man to look after her. Relationships should not be subservient from either the male or the female perspective. Love is about equality.

I wish Hillary would run again in 2012. Totally off topic, I realize.
01:35 PM on 03/09/2011
I wish she would, too. Maybe she and Obama could switch roles and Joe could do the Secretary of State gig. (off topic)

On topic: good advice for the Middleton clan -- just relax and enjoy it!

If Hillary really thought she had the support and votes...nothing could stop her from running. The support and votes are not there for a Hillary 2012 victory...and we really need to keep a Dem in the white house...any Dem is better than the best Repub at this time.

Not so. Hillary isn't bloodthirsty enough to run a primary challenge against her own party. It's a shame.
