Japan Tsunami Video Shows Devastation After Massive 8.9 Earthquake

Japan has been pounded by a massive tsunami after being struck by one of the largest earthquakes in recorded history, which was listed by the USGS as magnitude 8.9.

The powerful tsunami swept away cars near the coast and news networks have been broadcasting footage of waves sweeping through farmland normally many miles from the coast.

Video. Japan is now battling on twin fronts, tackling the after effects of Friday's quake & subsequent tsunami and the following nuclear crisis in the Fukushima power plants. Even as the government has confirmed a meltdown at Fukushima, rescue operations continue in other parts of the country with many people searching for dear ones.

I was up late watching TV the night of the earthquake and saw the tsunami sweeping ashore LIVE. Sitting in my house in the middle of the US, far, far away from it all, I had to turn it off, because it scared the beejebers outta me. It was only on TV for me - and I will never forget it.

- There was no airplane on Sendai airpot when the tsunami hits

The Tsunami hits Sendai airport and runway almost covered by seawater. Working staff of the airport says there was no airplane on runway, 1 is just takeoff. It could have been worse it's very small airport.

I feel for the people of Japan as this is a terrible thing. They need help and hopefully the loss of life will not be as large as predicted. What got me is that 5 people in the US were on the beaches of the west coast taking pictures of the tsunami wave all were swept out to sea, 4 of them have been recovered. That defies logic. I guess if a meteor were coming to my home town someone would be on his roof with a video camera to catch it hoping it does not kill him.

My son reminded me yesterday that water is the most powerful force on earth - it cannot be stopped. It will find the place of least resistance and move forward. Really puts into perspective how ineffective man is at those times water wants to have its own way.

Latest reports are the the coolant level has dropped exposing the reactor core and the fuel rods are now damaged. Cesium, a byproduct of a runaway reactor, has been detected.

People who believe that this is just one more reason to believe that the "end is nigh" just want the Apocalypse to come so that they can avoid paying off their student loans or mortgage payments they can't afford.

Still it was strong BUILDING CODES and not prayers that saved lives in Japan.

Yes, proves that paying for safeguards UP FRONT means that you don't pay with the cost of loss of life and loss of property in the long run. That's why the GOP constantly fails with their economic policies and foreign policies, they fail to have the foresight to understand how the big picture works and how short cuts seem cheap now but cost far more than doing the job right in the first place no matter the costs.

That's the problem they have with governing based on the modern business model principle of short-term gain that leads to long-term problems that you can simply leave for someone else to clean up. If the GOP philosophies didn't work for AIG or Lehman Brothers, what makes you think they will work for governing.

Go to Nasa.gov. Search 2000 PN9. Click the first result. Look at how close this object came to Earth 3/11.

If I'm reading the tabular data correctly, the closest recorded distance to Earth of 2000 PN9 was on March 6, 2006, when it passed 1.9 million miles away (0.02 AU). There are more dangerous rocks out there.

I understand how far an AU is. I'm not saying we should have felt a breeze or anything but could there be a gravitational effect? C/2010 X1 (Elenin) will likely give us a bright dramatic drive by later this year. If we're lucky there will be a visible tail!

Those who believe these objects are capable of possibly causing earthquakes point to the middle of October as a time those on fault lines should be observant. There were predictions for an earthquake during a period between 3/11-3/15 based on 2000 PN9. I'm not saying I believe it but it will be interesting what Oct 14-19 brings. Many of them also believe outlandish alignment conspiracies but their predictions of strong quakes 3/11-3/15 are at least coincidentally interesting.

There is a life feed from Japan that has been running continuously since the quake and tsunami in Japan. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/tbstv Even if you do not speak or understand the Japanese language, you can feel their words. US anchor-people sound so bombastic, but the broadcasters from Japan are a calming influence on me. Wish it was the same for all of the people tonight sleeping in shelters or none at all. Praying for them tonight, and hoping that each new day forward they find hope and the resilience to overcome all of this.

I am not associated with any church. The church age is long dead. I respect the prophets who helped save souls. Did you mock Moses? Ghandi? Mother Theresa? Martin Luther King, Jr.? Why would you think because some were wrong that all are wrong? New information from the same old sources are opened up. Read the book of Daniel and know that certain knowledge was not to be revealed to those of the past generations. Today, all the books have been revealed. We are in a new age. Don't be afraid. Don't go to church. Do help each other. Do Repent of your sins of which we all are not worthy since we all have had hate, anger, fear, lust, and countless other sins. It sounds like you're saying truth is relative. If Jesus isn't Lord of one's life, then that person is not saved, period. He is the only way to Heaven. Yeah, took awhile for your comment to post so I couldn't respond but honestly, I was watching Pers Morgan on CNN and they trotted that out, I posted it here and the next show was John King taking the original AC 360 time slot and they then went from 8.9 to 8.4 and some Japanese official said 8.8. So....clearly this must be open to interpretation.

Reminds me of a trip to a dentist out of town who told me I had 8 cavities. Upon returning home I visited my regular dentist and he said 'no, you have no cavities, it's just SOME dentists are really aggressive.'

Japan Times reports on Twitter that the magnitude of Friday's earthquake has been revised to 9.0.

So who knows. CNN is still calling it a 8.9 at the moment.
