Craft Beer Spotlight: One Hit Wonder 6-Packs At Oskar Blues

Denver craft beer lovers know Oskar Blues -- the micro-brew canning visionaries out of Longmont. They've have launched a new, very limited brew only available at their Tasty Weasel Taptoom in the Oskar Blues Brewery. The beer is called One Hit Wonder, and they are selling these limited edition six-packs until they run out. Hurry while supplies last -- they'll be gone before the end of March.

One Hit Wonder is an Imperial IPA, a style of pale ale that has roots in England. But what separates an "Imperial" in the IPA class is the strong alcohol content (One Hit Wonder is nine percent by volume), double the hops (Imperials can also be called "Double" IPAs), and their intense hoppy and malty flavor profiles.

Oskar Blues dry-hopped this beautifully orange-reddish ale, giving it a distinct tropical fruit scent, with a tangy tangerine and mango body, and an English crystal malted flavor to balance out the fruitiness of the hops, making for a perfect brew for these warmer days of Spring.

Oskar Blues has been reinventing what craft beer should taste like and look like since 1997. One of the early adopters of micro-brew canning, they used to can each beer by hand, one at a time, on a table-top machine in the early days.

The Tasty Weasel Taproom is in the heart of the brew operation and puts you in the front row of Blues' massive stainless steel fermentation tanks. After picking up your six-pack of One Hit Wonder, try one of the half-dozen specialty brews they serve on tap or, if you can't wait to get home, crack open a One Hit at the Tasty Weasel -- they won't mind at all, but you might have to share.
