Now that's magic!

Emma Watson has been named the new face of Lancôme. The 20-year-old "Harry Potter" star confirmed the exciting news this morning via Twitter after posting a series teasers to her followers this weekend.

"It starts with an L and ends with an E. I'm sure you have guessed the new face of Lancôme is me! :-)," wrote Watson.

"Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become the icon of her generation. We are delighted by this new collaboration with Emma who brings a fresh spirit to Lancôme", said Youcef Nabi, President of Lancôme International in a statement.

As Lancôme's youngest face, Watson joins actresses Kate Winslet, Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz and Anne Hathaway as celebrity spokesmodels of the French beauty house.

We can't wait to see the hot young star's debut ad campaign!

She's smart, talented, beautiful and charming; I couldn't be happier for her. Looking at Lancome's roster of prior representatives, they're quite selective. SorryKardashians!

"Emma Watson" has become the icon of her generation.

The problem with this statement is that her generation (20 year olds) are not at all the typical client of Lancôme. Whether it's the make up, the perfumes, or the cosmetics, the Lancôme products are typical for older women. So, I'm not really sure who target is . If your typical client feels like the face of the brand resembles their daughter, I'm not sure that's the best selling strategy.

The women Lancome chooses fall across many spectrums.
Mothers and daughters shop the same lines so that's not a problem.
Emma Watson will grow with the brand and there is truly something for everyone at Lancome
Lancome is considered a "luxury" brand in mainstream dept stores so why not tap the youthful $$$'s that would have gone to say mid line Clinique?
We also pay attention to Allure magazine's Best of Beauty recommendations and Lancome routinely has several products on the list. Their mascara's (and remover) are phenomenal.
They likely won't buy the $60 Absolue BX base but they will buy a $35 tinted moisturizer.
It's marketing 101. Expand your base.

I'm not dissing the brand Lancôme, which I know intimately. I'm just saying, when you see who's buying Lancôme, they're not 20.

And I don't have a problem with Emma Watson either, I like her quite a bit.

It's just a strange match. When you say that she'll grow with the brand - may be she will, but I doubt that they'll keep her for 15, 20 years. They change faces every few years.

I think this is just an attempt to attract younger clientele, but it's sort of a divorce with the previous line. Lancôme faces have always been more mature women - Juliette Binoche, Isabella Rosselini, Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, etc. Which makes sense, as that's the generation that shops Lancôme. If they want to have a new face that's barely out of puberty, that's OK, but please, do not pretend that it's because the girl in question is an icon of her generation, because there is no marketing logic behind that.

Informing young women of your brand is a way of ensuring they will recognize it as solid and enduring when they become part of the core demographic.

No hard red lipstick on this girl. Red is so trite.

She looks very young, like a girl in her early teens. Not her fault I know, but it's hard to see her endorsing Lancome. Isabella Rosellini was one of their best ever.

I truly miss Isabella Rosellini as the face of Lancome!  As a 'woman of a certain age' myself, she embodies a combination of eternal chic along with aging gracefully.

Doesn't Lancome test on animals? I mean it's great for her and everything but I would have seen her do something more Eco-friendly.

I like her. I think it's a good choice, so long as they aren't hawking anti-aging creams.

Along with Emma, I'd like to see Lancome bring back Isabella Rosselli.
