Michele Bachmann: 'First Thing' I Would Do In Presidential Debate Is 'Offer Birth Certificate'

Michele Bachmann Birth Certificate

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) recently signaled the first thing she would do in the premiere presidential debate of the next election cycle should she make a run for the White House.

Speaking to conservative radio host Jeff Katz in an interview last week, she said, "I think the first thing I would do in the first debate is offer my birth certificate so we can get that off the table."

Last month, the Tea Party favorite was asked about her stance on the birther issue during an appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America." Here's an excerpt of the exchange:

Stephanopoulos: You know, a sizable number of GOP primary voters still are questioning President Obama's faith and citizenship. Can you just state very clearly that President Obama is a Christian and he is a citizen of the United States?

Bachmann: Well that isn't for me to state, that is for the president to state. And I think that the president makes--

Stephanopoulos: Do you believe it?

Bachmann: When the president makes his statements I think they need to stand for their own.

After being pressed to more clearly define her position, Bachmann said that those who question whether the president was born in the U.S. should "take [him] at his word."

Bachmann is currently testing the waters for a potential presidential run. She has recently made trips to key primary states, including New Hampshire, where over the weekend she discussed her ambitions for the next election cycle.

OH, wow! Bachman is really in tune with world affairs. I'm sure that birth cetificate which has been authenticaed far more than hers will make Osama Bin Laden surrender, ensure Iraq's democracy, and cure the common cold. She appears to be a real rocket scientist.

Birth certificate? I want to see her high school diploma! If she produces it, I then want to see her report card with her US History grade. If she produces that, I want to see the history tests where she received passing scores, oh no, Michelle, not the test scores - the original actual tests. If she produces those, then I want the name of her US History teacher along with the name of the university where that person graduated. Then I want to see that teacher's original teaching certificate. AND THEN, I want proof that Michelle Bachmann did not cheat in order to get a passing grade.

I am just trying to make a point because I am assuming everyone has to pass US History in order to graduated from high school, but now that I see all the ways a person should have to prove they have at least a basic knowledge of American history - ok, Michele, start producing the proof.

Can you even imagine Bachmann standing up to all the constant criticism like President Obama receives! She would be even crazier than usual.

Anthony Weiner destroyed Bachman and Hannity on Fox tonight. At the end, Sean was so angst-ridden he had to pick up a football and toss it up and down to reassure himself that he's still a man.

With Palin and Chimp off the stage the only relief remaining for seekers of the insane is Michelle Bachmann. Please please run for president.

In the spirit of Michelle:
"I am proud to divert my tax money from Social Security to Michelle Bachmann's exploratory efforts to find her candidacy fpr President. If she can find the putrid hole in America that waits for her unique abilities, we can all help her to fill it."

I'll look forward to her brandishing her original birth certificate. It should be interesting to see how she manages to remove it from her state's Office of Public Records.

That is probably the best comment about this whole birth certificate mess I have ever seen!

Come on, all you birthers, quick, go look at your original birth certificate! That's right, you can't - cause you don't have it - it is on file with your state records office!

Just because she doesn't have a death certificate, does that prove that she is not dead?
