NCAA Tournament 2011 West Region: Which Team Will Reach The Final Four?

It's time to break down the West region of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. On Monday, Huff Post readers voted on which team will win the East region and reach the Final Four. The West appears to be stacked with great teams like Duke, Texas, San Diego State and UConn. But what about teams like Oakland and Arizona? Could a lower seed make a Cinderella run? Which team do you think will make it to the Final Four from the West region.

Duke is at it again. The defending national champs earned another No. 1 seed after winning their third straight ACC tournament and finishing with a 30-4 overall record. They also have five wins over top 25 teams .

Don't count UConn out in tournaments this year. Maui and the Big East tournament results: UConn 8-0, including wins over 6 top 20 ranked teams.

Having seen the refs do it 3 times from good seats at NCAA tourneys before ( vs. UCLA, VCU ands Maryland), i would say the refs will do their best to pave Duke's way in any tight game.

Nothing compared to how the refs coddle UNC during tight games. Hansborough traveled everytime he had his hands on the ball and never got called for it. Did you watch VaTech beating up on Duke in the ACC? Elbows flying into faces and chins and the refs ignored it over and over again.

Refs do call games a certain way, and they seem to reward teams that hustle. Maybe Duke just hustles more. They didn't against St. Johns and paid the price in the calling. And nurseattorney is right. Hansbrough's senior year, he averaged a little over on e foul a game(1.21). And he was a contact-seeking center. UNC definitely gets the calls.

I think it will be Duke. I think they are better than San Diego St, and I think U Conn could beat the, but by that point UCONN will have had to have won 9 games in a row. I think if they are going to lose in the bracket it will be at the hands of Tennessee. The SEC is underrated, Tennessee beat some good teams, and 6 of their losses came to Vanderbilt (at Vandy) Kentucky (2 times) and Florida (3 times). They had beaten Pitt and Nova. They just don't have the talent to win several games in a row, but one game against Duke, they can win.
