eBookNewser:

If you’re old enough, you might recall how libraries used to have card catalogs. This was back before you could look stuff up on the computer – back when all the information about a book was on little 3×5 cards. Now that the catalog is on computers, the cabinets that used to hold those cards aren’t much use anymore.

I get how paperless for the most part is good, but still this is sad.

Why? I have a Kindle and still buy printed books and check out books from the library. It's just another way to get what I want. It doesn't supplant anything.

there's this thing i heard once about slopes. and how sometimes they get wet. and when they do they become slick, almost slippery. And slopes in that manner are not safe, because without proper traction on a slope, you could lose your bearings and fall. And when you fall on a slope, gravity causes the speed with which you tumble down the slope to accelerate, thus making it harder for you to stop, and only ensuring you injure yourself further, than if you had just fallen on a flat surface. And once you've fallen, you cant undo the damage it will cause. So I think its best if we all avoid slopes, ramps, or any angled surface when it might be slippery, wet, slick, or be lacking in traction in any way.

very neat idea. Although I still prefer looking it up on the internet. Kudos to BJHS for this.

Yeah, and with this latest round of GOP education cuts you can pretty well forget e-readers altogether. In fact we might very well see schools having to BURN books just to provide heat.

good. thats a complete waste of tax dollars. you can buy a slew of text books made with recycled paper for what you'd pay for a "decent" e-reader. I use decent loosely it pertains to the e-reader world. Not the common sense world of everything else.

Why does a junior high school have e-readers?

Why wouldn't they? They all should.

A junior high school should have e-readers? I don't know, it just seems like a waste of money to me. After all, how mature could the students possibly be at that stage of puberty.
