Fasting for Lent? Best Seafood Dinners In Denver

Lent began last week, which means many are looking for the best seafood dinners in Denver as they abstain from meat and fowl each Friday through April 22. So, are you planning to kick off the weekend with a batch of Mrs. Paul's fish sticks? Not if we have anything to say about it. Here are three places to feast while you fast.

Citron Bistro: There's a plethora of mouth-watering seafood dishes on this "New World" menu, but for something light, yet filling, order the chili seared salmon salad, made up of greens, sun dried cranberries, walnuts, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, parmesan and raspberry vinaigrette ($12.49). You'll probably be full before you're finished but it's doubtful that will deter you from taking every last bite.3535 S. Yosemite; 303-771-5800

Fresh Fish Company: This obvious-named eatery offers a large number of fresh picks, ranging from mahi to walleye to arctic char to barramundi ($14 - $27). However, the true awesomeness here lies in the sauces from which you can choose to accompany your fish. Lemon caper, chive buerre blanc, Creole BBQ and honey-tamarind are among the many drizzles; you can also exchange the signature spice blend with sesame crust, Cajun spice or jerk spice rub.7800 E. Hampden Ave.; 303-740-9556

GB Fish and Chips: If you're not scared off by a little deep frying action, come by GB's for an authentic meal of fish and chips (beginning at $5.50). Cod is the most likely choice here, but you can also try battered tilapia, prawns, oysters, squid and scallops. On the chance you're less about the fish and more about the crunch, check out the Sloan's Lake location where their "random" fryer also crisps up Twinkies, pickles, Zingers, pineapple and Scotch eggs.1311 S.
