Jessica White To Go To Trial For Misdemeanor Assault Charges

Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Jessica White will have her day in court, the New York Daily News reports.

White was arrested on misdemeanor assault charges last October after she allegedly attacked Vanessa Kia, 28, on a sidewalk in Manhattan. The court complaint said 26-year-old White "pulled the victim's hair and struck [the victim] numerous times in the face with her hand, causing abrasions, swelling and substantial pain."

At the time, White's lawyer Mark Heller told RadarOnline.com, "Jessica was out with a bunch of friends celebrating her new single status. She just ended her relationship with Sean Penn and was celebrating."

White and Heller rejected a plea deal on Tuesday, turning down two days of community service, two days of anger management and $446.96 in restitution. White's case will go to trial May 17. She will likely face jail time and/or a fine.

Heller told the New York Post that surveillance tapes show that White "did absolutely nothing wrong. [Kia] threw herself at [White's] group, and started pushing and fighting with them. It's really horrifying that taxpayer money is really being wasted on this. She's a nasty, angry person. The video shows she was running after my client from behind. She recognized she was Jessica White, and was shouting, 'You're a celebrity. I'm going to take you down.'"
