Obama's Bracket For 2011 NCAA Tournament: President Picks Kansas To Win March Madness (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/16/11 02:19 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:40 PM ET

President Barack Obama has filled out his 2011 NCAA tournament bracket with ESPN's Andy Katz and just like he said on Tuesday, he likes the No. 1 seeds to advance in to the Final Four.

(Click here for a printable bracket. )

Last year, Obama picked Kansas to win it all. He is giving the Jayhawks a "chance at redemption" this year, picking them to beat Ohio State in the national championship game.

The president also chose Pittsburgh to go the Final Four because he feels the Southeast region is the weakest of the four.

Obama, who correctly chose North Carolina to win it all in 2009, said Ohio State has the talent to beat the Tar Heels in the Elite Eight and eventually lose in the finals.

Looks great!

No chance he's winning this year!

I'm sure he is going to get criticism in the tonnage for that but the media (especially the Right) will do what they do best; distract the public.

And his vote for national champion is....."Present".

As I read through these posts I am amazed at the amount of hate and bitterness many of you feel for Bush - give it a rest already! Please move forward and quit beating an ex-president. Obama is 2 years years in folks. You should join the rest of us in 2011.

There seems to be an equal amount of hate and bitterness directed at Obama if not more. It's hilarious to see people with very limited knowledge of politics and current affairs comment here.
10:43 AM on 03/18/2011
There is a big difference - I don't hate Obama the person. I disagree with his ideas. You and others like you hate the people you disagree with as opposed to their ideas.
I am sorry that my level of political knowledge is beneath you. I am sure you are a very wise and accomplished person.

I love the continuously polemicist manner in which the media and detractors treat the Obama Administration. When Obama does not laugh out loud at everyone's jokes, scream and fly off the handle when something goes wrong in the country (or the world), or when he does not stick rigidly and ideologically to one side, he is called emotionally detached. However, when he acts to show us an iota of his real personality (his love of basketball), when he makes a joke, or when he speaks candidly about something he feels passionately about, then he is insulted or it is said that he has misstepped in his role as our president.

I think the president should continue to do those things which Americans do in their everyday lives, that includes basketball. He should laugh and speak candidly, even if it runs contrary to the media's continuously shifting perception of him. Just because we don't physically SEE Obama doing the things you want him to do, doesn't mean he is not doing these things. Let's face it, unemployment wouldn't be going down, the economy getting better, or the government staying afloat if the president wasn't stewarding these things along. Just because everyone doesn't see you pay your bills or your mortgage every month, does it mean you aren't paying it? Just because your kids don't see you leave for work everyday, does this mean you don't go? Let's treat the President of the United States a little more fairly.

I don't know what country you live in, but unemployment isn't going down. The housing sales hit a record low this month. His projected deficit (20 trillion) for his term is over 90% of the GNP.
He just single-handedly started a new war, without Congress' approval, then ran off to Brazil for another vacation. Say what?

lol at you Obamamaniacs defending this phony president. I mean Obama is still stalling on whether there should be a no-fly-zone in Libya. Gas prices are at $100 a barrel, we are not drilling for oil, we are not mining for coal, we are not building any nuclear reactors, within a couple months you are going to see energy prices rise again. Obama is still investing in green energy (which is a failure), I sincerely hope Obama doesn't believe we can engine a $15 trillion dollar industrial economy with wind-power.

Within a couple months you liberals are going to realize Obama has no clue on our nations problems. Obama has no idea what to do about what we should in Japan, our economy, in the middle east. He has no clue.

Ask not what your country can do for you but WTF?
12:37 PM on 03/17/2011
Libya should be UN matter. This isn't a US issue yet.

Don't be afraid of new energy technology. Fifty years ago, it was a good idea to replace the old coal furnace at home with a natural gas one. Progress happens, and it must.

Obama has more - and better - ideas on the issues of the world than any of his detractors do. It's not our place to take over Japan's recovery. Japan is a grown up country and we've extended our hand. What more would you have us do?

As for the economy, at least Obama knows that the US economy won't get better by shifting the middle class into poverty. I'd like to see him do more to prevent a collapse from happening again, but regulation and consumer protection are a tough sell to the Republicans, who still have some influence and accountability here.

The problems in the Middle East are somewhat complex, in case you didn't know. No person on the planet has all the answers for that one, and no US President will ever have enough influence to enact the solutions. (unless you're thinking nuclear bombs?)

Notice how all GOP were begging President Obama to dive into another war with Libya?
They wanted to be able to collar him with this war. Fox news, and all of their dopes were given the same script to repeat. Lucky for us, we have a President that is not run by Fox News, and he made sure this was not a U.S. matter but a UN matter.
01:21 PM on 03/18/2011
Damaged done, he looks bad, especially going to Rio. He's absent, but votes present. As far as the middle class, what do you believe the middle class to be?? I honestly feel that Obama is not for the middle class, he's really for sustaining poverty. More welfare, more votes and control.

Liberal policies have failed and failed in our school system, which failed our children. We rank 25 in the world, sad. The school system is really about the adults and not really about the kids. Union care more about their union dues than why the kids are ranking so low. Watch "Waiting for Superman", then you will see failed liberal policies!

i f I want to get scared I watch a horror movie. Even if I agreed with ever rep conservative policy I would still hate them. Yopu always say if you dont do this we will die painfull slow deaths... Obama says..if we invest we have a brighter future.. You want to drill ofshore, so we can have another oil spill, more nuclear reactors ina our commiunites so the cancer rate rises. I tell you what me and my family will use wind and drive electric cars in our community, and all of you can have nuclear reactors, drill for oil in yours.. wait lets put this experiment in a dome.. Honestly where would you want to live I have kids, I will struggle through growing pains in order to ensure a SAFE, CLEAN future.

And Obama has yet to take as much vacation as the previous President did. No matter what he does, his critics will always have something negative to say.
10:30 PM on 03/17/2011
That is factually untrue. Obama has taken nearly twice as much time off compared to the same period in Bush, Daddy Bush and Clinton's presidencies.

You're wrong.

Obama has spent far less time on vacation than his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, had at this point in his presidency.

Veteran CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller, a fastidious keeper of presidential statistics, has kept count. By his tally, Obama has embarked on nine “vacations” since taking office, bringing his total days off to 48. Some of those trips lasted a day and some, like his Christmas holiday in Hawaii, more than a week.

By comparison, Bush had visited his ranch in Crawford, Tex., 14 times at this point in his administration and spent 115 days there. And yes, Democrats let him have it, too, complaining that he was a chronic vacationer.

George W. Bush presided over two recessions, two wars, 9/11, failed economy and Hurricane Katrina — but he still managed to take more time off than any president in modern history.

And this is what happens when people stop thinking and start repeating what they hear on F0x News... A 2 minute search and 5 minutes of reading would have lead you to several reliable sources that show your statement is patently false.

But hey- you learn something new every day.

For example, I learned that parrots are, indeed, native to West Virginia.

Unlike our last president, Obama can walk and chew gum at the same time and as an added bonus he can speak english and write.

Yep. Those are pretty much the qualifications to be the leader of the free world. Why does he have to speak English...you bigot!

What kind of a President is this. One that is truly snarky, rude, demeaning, false, a two-faced hypocrite with a chip on his shoulder. He is not a very good leader, A rank amateur at best. A scared little boy back in Hawaii.

It's nice to know where Obama's priorities lie.

That being said, picking the four number one seeds to reach the final four is a very safe pick, and probably unlikely.

actually, if you watch the clip (much to the "annoyance" of the host Obama gives a website to help people in Japan)...so according to priorities I guess that is officially his first...

but picking the top seeds is too simple, there's always a few upsets in there...

It's also a way to quickly fill out the bracket and move on to more important matters. I don't believe that Obama spent weeks researching and making his picks, as his detractors infer.
