The Good Men Project Magazine

Consider the scene: Tom, a small, shy, openly gay high school student, sat at the back of the school bus on his own. He saw three of the most popular, athletic boys get on the bus, fresh from soccer practice. As they made their way down the aisle, they saw Tom alone and moved toward him.

What happened next?

Not what you'd expect.

This is really a good thing. I do have a gay kid, who is now 20. And he is NOT this steroypical GAY KID. In high school he played sports and was well liked. People who type nonsense like bible verses need to keep that at home in your closet. Us NORMAL people do not need to hear it.

well said. My boys are comfortable with all people, including gay people. I never allowed them to depersonalize anyone based on things over which they have no control.

This is great. I know I would have loved a school such as this when I was young. I don't have any children but if I did and one or more were gay, I wold send them to such a school in a heartbeat.

I can't wait until all the reichies get on here and start spewing their hate and ignorance. What part of "students should be able to attend school without being bullied" do they not understand?

Now, care to give me an intelligent answer/ rebuttal. This particular one tells me you have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation.

As we all know, Gay people aren't judgemental or catty or make cliques.

Riiiiiight. It often turns into a "become the thing you hate the most" situation. But I'm rather optimistic that an environment that reinforces the philosophy that everyone be treated with respect will be a good example for everyone. Even the catty ones.

and as we all know, people who don't like gay people are really closet queens
