Nevada Republican Sharron Angle will mount a campaign for Nevada's second district House seat in the next election cycle.
Laura Myers at the Las Vegas Review Journal first reported the news relayed to her by Republican National Committeewoman Heidi Smith on Wednesday afternoon. Jon Ralston at the Las Vegas Sun confirmed Angle's plans to run for the seat currently held by Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nev.), who earlier this week announced his intention to run for Senate in 2012.
Shortly after, Angle released a web video announcing the news herself.
Angle broke onto the political scene last year when she emerged the GOP nominee to take on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada's midterm election. While she ultimately came up short in her campaign, Angle undoubtedly left an impression on the political community.
According to Reid Wilson at Hotline on Call, Angle's political operation has $14,188 on hand, but remains $352,654 in debt. Ralston says he is told Angle's next financial disclosure report will show that the debt has been paid.

The former state Assemblywoman is the first to candidate to announce in what is expected to be a crowded GOP field. Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki and state GOP Chairman Mark Amodei are expected to run. State Sen. Greg Brower told Roll Call on Tuesday that he is considering a bid as well.
Operatives in the state said Tuesday that a multi-candidate field could help Angle, who lost by 5 points to Reid last year. She emerged victorious from the GOP Senate primary with 40 percent of the vote in a 12-candidate field.
Roll Call reported earlier in the day that some within the Republican community were less than enthused with the prospect of Angle running for public office in 2012. Smith told the outlet, "Sharron needs to sit back and regroup" and added, "Most people are looking at Mark Amodei and Brian Krolicki."
News of Angle's plans should come as no surprise. Since her midterm election loss last year, the Nevada Republican has repeatedly signaled she has "lots of options" for running in the next cycle.
