Four-Horned Sheep Found In China (VIDEO)

WATCH: 4-Horned Sheep Discovered

It’s not every day that a sheep grows four horns. But that’s just what has occurred in a small town in northern China.

The Today Show reports on a four-horned male sheep who was brought from Mongolia last year. His additional horns first appeared in October.

According to an NTD Television report, the sheep farmer is quite impressed, noting that "its four horns are well-balanced and grown symmetrically."

An animal expert believes the additional two horns are a gene mutation, and he wonders if the sheep could be bred as a new species. As he tells NTD Television, "If it is the only one in the flock, I think it is of no scientific value. Probably it is only an object for appreciation. But if there are similar phenomena among its offspring or among its brothers and sisters, it is worth studying to find out what causes the genetic mutation and whether it can be bred as a new species.”
