Michelle Obama's Garden Garb (PHOTOS, POLL)

First Posted: 03/17/2011 8:51 am   Updated: 05/25/2011 6:40 pm

Michelle Obama made her season debut in the White House Kitchen Garden on Wednesday and she looked good while doing good -- in a purple t-shirt, red cardigan, gray pants, jacket and sneakers -- calling on a little First Lady Casual Chic to dig in the mud.

Check out what she wore and take a look at all of her previous gardening getups.

Isn't it amazing how a mere picture of Mrs. Obama working with dirt brings out the worst in many White Americans? Just unbelievable! It seems like everything the Obamas do just has to degenerate into rac!.@I h,@,te.

White America has got a lot of work to do in feeling comfortable in their own skin.

This r@.c!aI ven.0.m is so obvious that even if you try to watch any video on YouTube that involves ANY esteemed black person in the society, the comments instantly become r.@.c!$t. It seems many whites are not comfortable in their own skin and have to resort to stuff like this to make them feel better.

Ugh!

I always wear my thousand dollar Lanvin top when I work in the yard, oh darn I don't have one, but if I did actually garden, I wouldn't want to get it dirty,I'd save it to wear to the Royal Wedding.
Don't misunderstand, I like her and voted for him but between basketball bracketing, and designer 'garden' wear', the O's don't always get that visuals matter Of course they both are free to do as they please, but why invite critcism? He can't get re-elected by just Huffpo readers, who seem to think the O's never put a foot wrong. These days our whole culture is about image, they need better advisors.

@drreader:

You and everyone else criticizing the First Lady need to stop being so jealous and covetous. People should be happy and satisfied with what they have. Life would be more peaceful and joyful.if you did. I don't know you, but from what you wrote you come across as being a resentful and covetous person. Having this attitude harms your physical and emotional health. Take it from one who knows this from experience.

She's such a strong, gracious and beautiful woman both inside and out. The epitome of womanhood. I just love our First Lady.

She reminds me of my mom, strong, tough, beautiful, intelligent and can probably make a mean cupcake.

Our First Lady Michelle Obama can be praised for many of her accomplishments. Having said that, I cannot imagine more vitriol poured on any previous First Lady as I have seen on our present First Lady. It takes courage, intestinal fortitude plus a great family and friend support system to do exactly what she does - namely try to show how to do good. When the chips are down we should all be so fortunate to have an inner strength to ignore back-biting and vicious comments. Btw I have always liked our first ladies even if I have not particularly liked their spouses. Most first ladies would have made terrific presidents including our current one.

Good comment, Starting with Jackie Kenedy then both Bush ladies, Hillary was a saint, R. Carter all were great first ladies.

She looks great, as usual. But I wonder why she doesn't just wear the same T-shirt as the kids? Then we wouldn't have all these h8ers going on about her gardenwear. Some say too dressy, others too casual, others don't like whatever colour, and some just vomit up venom for attention. Mind you, the last group would then moan about her not wearing something to comment on.

it's amazing that an inane article about what michelle wears when she's gardening brings out such snarky and racist comments from people who think they're good americans. check yourself people.

And now for the inferiority-driven hateful commentary ...

(sigh)

to think that some people would post the garbage they post about an accomplished, decent & caring American woman.

I can't remember a FLOTUS who had more interaction with citizens, especially children than Mrs.Obama. She appears to be a genuine and caring First Lady who really does have childrens best interest at heart in all aspects.I can't recall ever seeing this in the White House before with former FLOTUS and I've lived thru Presidents and First Ladies since JFK.

What a refreshing breath of fresh air our First Lady is. Beautiful, smart, worked her way up from very humble beginnings i a one bedroom apartment in Chicago where she slept in the living room ...

Same with her husband.

Wish some people could understand just how lucky we are to have them.
