NCAA Tournament First Round 2011: March Madness Live Updates
March Madness is finally here! The first round of the 2011 NCAA tournament kicks off Thursday at 12:15 ET with the No. 5 West Virginia going up against No. 12 Clemson. At 12:40, No. 9 Old Dominion squares off against No. 8 Butler. You can watch the games on CBS and TruTV. Vote on which teams will come out of the East, West, Southwest and Southeast regions. We will be providing live updates from the first round action so get your brackets ready!
The first round is over. Syracuse beat Indiana State 77-60 to advance to the second round.
Washington wins after a last-second missed shot from Georgia. 68-65 Huskies.
Georgia nailed a 3-pointer to cut the lead to two. Washington goes to the free throw line with 3.7 seconds left.
In a shocking upset, No. 11 VCU knocks off Georgetown and advances to the second round.
Georgia needs to start making some stops on defense if they want a chance. They're down 57-49 with five minutes left.
Indiana State isn't going down without a fight. They trail Syracuse 42-36 with 16:40 left.
Time is running out for the Hoyas. They're down 18 with 10 minutes left in the game.
Washington has taken a 37-32 lead over Georgia with 15:37 left in the game.
Illinois eliminates UNLV. The Fighting Illini will play Kansas in the second round.
VCU is on the verge of pulling off a shocking upset. 46-28 Rams. Hoyas struggling to get something going on offense.
No. 9 Illinois is taking care of business against No. 8 UNLV. 59-40 with 10:20 left in the game.
Georgia is playing good defense against Washington. They're winning 20-16 with six minutes left on CBS.
Syracuse has jumped out to a 12-6 lead over Indiana State with !5:20 left in the first half.
VCU's Brandon Rozzell has come off the bench and scored nine points. He leads the team in scoring and the Rams are winning 30-23.
VCU is taking it to the Hoyas. They have a 21-19 lead with 7:21 left in the first half.
Illinois played a near-perfect first half. They're beating UNLV 46-24 at the break.
Illinois is frustrating UNLV and forcing them to take bad shots. Fighting Illini up 22-12.
The Golden Eagles have been in control throughout the entire game. They set the pace and haven't been taken out of rhythm once. Marquette winning 58-43 with 5:30 left in the game.
The Purdue Boilermakers are moving on to the second round. They beat St. Peter's 65-43.
