Billy Ray Cyrus Talks Calling Off Divorce On 'The View' (VIDEO)

On Friday's episode of The View, Billy Ray Cyrus told Elisabeth Hasselback that he dropped his divorce in order to "put his family back together."

"I think for the first time me and my whole family are really communicating with each other. Things are really the best they’ve ever been," he said.

Cyrus spoke out about his controversial GQ interview last February, where he said that Hannah Montana "destroyed" his family.

"I love Hannah Montana. I love Disney. That didn’t tear my family apart," he said on The View. "Now fame, fame is a different animal, now fame you’ve got to be careful with that thing."

Admitting that he never should have done the interview, Cyrus says he's since learned from his mistake.

"I did learn this--doing an interview when you are mad and scared is a whole lot like going to the grocery store when you're hungry. It's not a good idea," he said.

I love how he constantly blames the Disney corporation for ruining his daughter's morals, as if him riding her coattails after his short-lived success is any less deplorable then them.

I take it that he realizes a page has turned, his daughter is basically now all grown up, and that she, as nature intended, is headed off in her own life's direction. As a result he expressed powerful feelings that he had yet to come to grips with, and out of desperation commented via media megaphone for all the world to hear. Loving parents sometimes have a difficult time taking a step back and letting go, and given their unusual circumstances it is perhaps even more difficult for him in this case. Here's hoping the interview is an expression of his learning to cope with what is a natural, but sometimes painful part of the cycle of life.

He called this off cause Miley probably told him that she would cut him off if he split. BRC is a little parasite that leeches off his daughter's success. He pushed her to be what she has become, now he gets to see the wheels come off the bus and watch his franken-daughter fall apart with bad choices in men, drugs, booze and behavior. way to go Billy Ray. And if anyone out there ever wondered if fame and forturne has a price, watch the horror that will unfold infront of BRC in the next two years.

I think he got it right the first time about Disney/Hannah Montana. He changed his tune because he doesn't want to ruin any big opportunities that Disney may throw his way. However, I wish him luck getting his family back together.

He needs someone positive like you in his corner, good for you. Let me see, he falsely accused his wife of an affair, he trashed his daughter in public, he blamed the only company that would hire him and he did this all within a month time. Respect? You have got to be kidding. I'll wait and see if he gets a job that doesn't include outsourcing his daughter and grabbing onto her coattails. I'll wait and see whether or not he keeps his mouth shut (Oprah's couch last week). Clearly he c**ped on his loved ones and they have still decided to take him back. Respect for BRC no, I respect his family so let's see if he does.
