Watch: Former NYC Mayors In Support of Gay Marriage, Giuliani Nowhere To Be Found

Two new videos today from the Human Rights Campaign featuring former New York City Mayors Ed Koch and Dave Dinkins voicing their support for gay marriage. As part of the HRC's online series "New Yorkers For Marriage Equality" which features prominent New Yorkers such as Michael Bloomberg, Russell Simmons and Kenneth Cole, the videos today highlight the city's last two Democratic mayors making brief statements endorsing marriage rights for same-sex couples. Other former mayor Rudy Giuliani has noticeably not been included in the series.

Also today, Gay City News reports from a March 9th meeting Governor Cuomo held with an assortment of gay rights groups that the Governor's team is looking to push marriage equality into law within eight to ten weeks, before the state legislature adjourns in June.

And although many gay-rights advocates are encouraged by the plan and have started mobilizing grass roots efforts, the Governor will face a Republican-held state senate and has only 26 confirmed public votes in support of gay marriage. A similar measure in 2009 was defeated 32-30 in the state senate.

If New York were to enact a marriage equality law, it would join a list of 10 other states who have enacted similar legislation.
