Chicago's Favorite Fish Fries For Lent

During the 40 days of Lent, many Catholics give up eating meat on Fridays, which has led to the long tradition of Friday fish fries. But just because it's Lent doesn't mean you have to be Catholic to enjoy some tasty fish dishes. Here's a list of some of the best Friday fish fry deals you can find in the city.

Weather Mark Tavern: Get your fill at Weather Mark Tavern's all-you-can-eat Friday fish fry. For $9.95, you'll get thick steak fries, red cabbage coleslaw and homemade tartar sauce. Naturally, the highlight of this meal is the fish, which is prepared in a flavorful Cruzan rum batter. John Barleycorn: This Lincoln Park bar is offering a host of fish fry specials throughout Lent. Included is an $8.95 all-you-can-eat fish and chips dish with beer-battered cod, a $5 pepper and egg sandwich and a $12 fried shrimp dinner. English Bar and Restaurant: This hot downtown spot is usually hopping on Friday nights with the energetic 20-something crowd, but don't forget that they offer an excellent gastropub menu as well.
