New Jersey Students Face Criminal Charges For Senior Prank Involving Live Chicken

Students' Poultry Prank Results In Laughter, Criminal Charges

After throwing a live chicken into their high school as a senior prank, two New Jersey students face criminal charges and may not be able to participate in graduation ceremonies, reports NBC New York.

Anthony Cesareo and Tyler Bruno bought a live chicken on Feb. 25 and pushed it into an open window at their high school. Soon afterward, one or more unidentified copycat pranksters followed suit and put two more chickens into the school.

Cesareo told NBC New York that the birds appeared unharmed the next day and that many in the school didn't take it seriously.

"The teacher thought it was funny. The students thought it was funny. Everyone got a good laugh out of it except for the principal."

He said the principal at Woodbridge High School called the police. After confessing, the students were charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct and now their prom and graduation may be taken away from them as well.

Bruno told CBS New York that he feels the penalty is too severe.

"Just how harsh they're being with the punishment and everything, the seriousness of a not serious prank."
