"Maybe I'm spending too much of my time starting up clubs and putting on plays. I should probably be trying harder to score chicks."
So said Max Fischer, played by Jason Schwartzman, in "Rushmore," his first film with Wes Anderson. Turns out, putting on plays has worked out pretty well.
Schwartzman, it was announced on Wednesday, has joined the star studded cast of indie director Anderson's upcoming new film, "Moonrise Kingdom." His addition was announced alongside Edward Norton and Frances McDormand, who were already in talks for the film; they officially join Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray in the cast.
The cast mixes longtime Anderson collaborators and first timers. Anderson and Schwartzman have worked together on a number of films; after "Rushmore," Schwartzman starred in "The Darjeeling Limited," a film about three brothers traveling in India, and then voiced a character in Anderson's stop action animated film, "The Fantastic Mr. Fox," (about which he spoke with The Huffington Post).
Murray has an even deeper history with Anderson; he co-starred in "Rushmore," and then played a prominent role in "The Royal Tenenbaums." Murray played the lead in Anderson's next film, "The Life Aquatic," and then made a cameo in "The Darjeeling Limited," before providing his voice to "The Fantastic Mr. Fox."
Not much is known about the "Moonrise Kingdom"; back in November, Deadline reported a short plot synopsis:
Two young adults fall in love and run away. Leaders in their New England town are sticking the idea that they've disappeared and go in search of them. Norton will play a scout leader who brings his charges on a search. Willis is in talks to play the town sheriff who's also looking, and who is having an affair with the missing girl's mother, the role McDormand is in talks to play. Murray, a regular in Anderson films, will play the girl's father, who has his own issues.
Schwartzman, who most recently played the villain in "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," stars on HBO's comedy series, "Bored to Death."
