Japan Donation Update: Giving Totals More Than $161 Million

Nearly two weeks after the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, American donors have contributed more than $161-million for relief efforts, according to a Chronicle tally. About two-thirds of the total has been raised by one organization, the American Red Cross.
