Elgin Family Dispute Leads To Sword Attack On Possessions, Police Say

Family Dispute Leads To Sword Attack In The Suburbs

A television became the victim of a sword attack following a domestic dispute in suburban Elgin Tuesday, according to police.

CBS Chicago reports that police responded to a home in the northwest suburb of Chicago after a 21-year-old woman called, concerned that the aunt she was living with would throw her belongings out on the lawn.

Officers were able to negotiate an agreement between the two parties, CBS reports: the niece would move out, and the aunt would respect her property. But the truce didn't last long. Ten minutes later, police were called back to the scene.

The niece had, according to WLS, unsheathed a black sword and attacked the TV set with it.

She also put a two-inch hole in the wall of the home, police reports say.

The aunt reportedly chose not to press charges against the young woman, but police advised her to begin eviction proceedings.
