Michelle Obama's Commencement Address Schedule: First Lady To Speak At Northern Iowa, West Point, Spelman

Michelle Obama will deliver commencement addresses at three colleges this spring, the White House announced today.

The First Lady will address the 1,900 members of the Class of 2011 at the University of Northern Iowa on May 7. On May 15, she will speak to the 500 graduates Spelman College, a historically black college in Georgia. Her final destination will be the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York, where she'll address 3,000 grads on May 20.

Obama will also deliver the commencement address at Quantico Middle High School in Virginia on May 3.

If you are one who has a problem with the first lady of the united states of America doing commencement addresses at some of our nations finest education institutions. Then in all probability you have not and will never attend one. She will be talking about things you will never understand, like hard work, personal sacrifice, personal determination, respect, achieving your goals, dreams keeping faith and working for a better future. Not just for yourself but for your country, you know the one all you patriots claim to love so much. The one you can't wait to take backwards.

Given ours was remade as a trickle-down economy, the same speeches need to be told to those at the top.  Not just the bottom.  We at the bottom are aware of a lot.  A double-standard for those at the top also happens to be something people are aware of.

She has spoken in the past. I have never heard her say anything that could be ripped apart by any sane or thinking person. Her speeches are warm and personal, and quite well received. She does not bore you, either.

A friend of mine paid good money to attend something during the campaign to hear her speak, and came back stating that she enjoyed Mrs. Obama's presentation even more than her orator husband's. This is from a woman who is never star struck and does not give compliments lightly.

I always note that most of the time when we see her depicted in this outfit or that she is doing something notable. She does not just dress for tea or lunch with the ladies. If you go look through the Style articles and find the mention of the occasion or cause the outfit was worn to be part of, you will notice that almost every time she is busy speaking or doing some good work. Most of the other times she is doing the family thing, and then there is date night.

We won't be seeing pictures of her lazing around the White House eating bon bons. I don't think her mind could comprehend such a use of time.

My niece is graduating from UNI in May. She was one of Obama's youngest delegates at the Democratic Convention in Colorado in 2008, and worked up until the 2010 elections for the Iowa Democratic Party.

She is over the moon happy about Mrs. Obama coming to speak. So are so many of her classmates. It doesn't matter what any of us think about her doing this commencement address. The only thing that matters is how the graduating class is affected. And they are overwhelmingly enthusiastic about this event!

I don't remember who spoke at my college graduation. They will never forget who spoke at theirs, and what was said.

First of all, you do not like Michelle Obama.

Second, if you have an issue with her speaking at West Point, perhaps you should call the school and inquire as to why they invited her.

And third, your knowledge of your President is woefully lacking: In 1993 he joined Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a 13-attorney law firm specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development, where he was an associate for three years from 1993 to 1996, then of counsel from 1996 to 2004, with his law license becoming inactive in 2002.
From 1994 to 2002, Obama served on the boards of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which in 1985 had been the first foundation to fund the Developing Communities Project, and of the Joyce Foundation. He served on the board of directors of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge from 1995 to 2002, as founding president and chairman of the board of directors from 1995 to 1999.

I simply love Michelle Obama. What a beautiful woman inside and out!
