Brooklyn Flea Opens New Outpost In Williamsburg

Brooklyn Flea Comes To Williamsburg Waterfront

The Brooklyn Flea is fleeing the indoors for its new and highly-anticipated second warm-weather home in Williamsburg on Sunday April 3. Located on the Brooklyn East River waterfront off Kent Avenue in between N 6th and N 7th, the new space, at 40,000 square feet, will feature about 140 vendors every Sunday this summer until November 20th this fall, according to the Brooklyn Paper.

The thriving market was founded three years ago in Ft. Greene by Jonathan Butler of Brownstoner and Eric Demby, former communications director for Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.

The Flea has become New York City's single most popular destination for vintage clothing, antiques, art, and artisanal foods, with an eclectic mix of local vendors who pay 100 dollars a day to set up shop and sell their fare. It has also been a big draw to Brooklyn, with folks from all five boroughs finding an alternative to Manhattan's diminishing flea market scene. From the New York Times:

Too, it seems logical that, with the gradual disappearance of Manhattan’s venerable Chelsea flea markets, their locations mostly lost to development (even the Antiques Garage on 25th street will reportedly be closed by November) something would eventually appear to fill the emptiness left in New Yorkers’ Sunday morning lives.
The Ft. Greene location reopens for business on April 2nd and will be open every Saturday from 10am-5pm until November 19th.

The Williamsburg Brooklyn Flea will be open from 10am until 5pm on Sundays.

Brooklyn Flea also operates the food and beverage for the SummerStage series at Central Park and during the winter months, resides at One Hanson Place in downtown Brooklyn. Click here for map and directions for each.
