Kate Moss Wears Iconic McQueen Hologram Dress In Harper's Bazaar (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/30/2011 1:07 pm Updated: 05/30/2011 5:12 am

Supermodel Kate Moss pays tribute to the late Alexander McQueen in the May issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, reprising the role she once played as a hologram at the end of the designer's 2006 runway show.

She dons the ruffled organza dress she wore while an image of her was projected for catwalk watchers. See video of that below.

Her homage is tied to the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Costume Institute exhibit set to open on May 4.

From the press release:

Kate Moss says about McQueen: "He gave women power, while letting them be fragile and vulnerable at the same time. People always used to say he was a misogynist, but it took me a while to realise that he was actually empowering women and not the other way around."
Of his legacy she says: "There's never ever going to be anybody like him. His was the most exciting show to see ever, even if you weren't there. I would hear about it on the phone and hear Lee and hear everyone. There was so much tension, but we had the best laughs. He was a dear friend of mine. I miss him terribly."
Daphne Guinness says: "What was so incredible about him was he could do the simplest things and the most complicated things. He was a proper genius, and that is a very overused word. If he'd done art, he would have been the best; if he'd done architecture, he would have been the best."

The issue hits newsstands March 31. For more, head over to Harper's Bazaar UK.

I remember watching that years ago and thinking, "Wow, how beautiful...and the music too!" But, now it makes me sad :(

The 2:58 video is even more astounding. A true fashion genius that I miss every time I hear/read the name Michael Kors.

Kate Moss, McQueen = Fashiongasm.

Pure prefection. Things like this make me hold on to any faith in fashion I have left.

Am I allowed to say how unfathomably ugly that dress is? To the point of making her look strangely mutated or something? It looks like she's covered in toilet paper fluttering in the wind...

I was expecting something that would make her look stunning....

I guess fashion is downright strange sometimes.

I don't think selling or even showcasing the dress itself OR the model was the point. I think he created the dress to mutate her into an ephemeral bird/angel/creature, just a lovely other-worldly vision. The floaty wisps of sheer fabric are to accentuate the effect of the hologram. There and not there, a dream or mirage. I love McQueen because he is, (or sadly WAS) often more of an artist than a fashion designer, using the human body as his blank canvas.

If you look at it as simply art, not necessarily trying to sell or 'feature' anything, you may see it differently.

Now that's what clothes are meant to do all the time.

But no, the human race is run so fast most miss it all.

I suppose the masses are nice and all if you call going through life with eyes closed nice.

Each to his own, but to me that dress looks like the the result from that game they play at wedding showers where they dress the bride in a toilet paper wedding gown.
