Meghan McCain: 'Game Change' Movie Will 'Crucify' My Family And Sarah Palin

Meghan McCain, daughter of 2008 presidential candidate and Arizona Senator John McCain (R), doesn't appear to have high hopes for the on-screen adaptation of last year's political tell-all, "Game Change." In a column for The Daily Beast Friday, she says she expects HBO's decision to run the book as a miniseries to leave her "family and Sarah Palin to be nothing short of crucified."

"From everything I understood, the interviews that they did land were from disgruntled staffers, rehashing for the most part stories they had not directly witnessed themselves," McCain writes of the book, penned by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, before going on to explain how she thinks that will carry over onto film. "I expect my family and Sarah Palin to be nothing short of crucified."

According to McCain, the current political climate is to blame for the move to shine a Hollywood-sized spotlight on a trove of what she depicts as thinly-sourced political gossip.

"Another election is nearing and President Obama has publicly fallen from his stature as an infallible saint," she writes. "It is in everyone's best interest to exaggerate and manifest things that didn't happen. The problem is, we do exist."

This isn't the first time McCain has rejected some of the portrayals in "Game Change." In December she called the book, "70 percent fiction."

Her father, who will be played by Ed Harris, and Sarah Palin, soon to be depicted by Julianne Moore, have similarly signaled that they aren't excited to see Jay Roach's treatment of "Game Change." Roach also directed the critically acclaimed political miniseries "Recount," based on the 2000 presidential election.

In an interview over the weekend, McCain claimed that he hadn't read the book, and had no plans to watch the movie, either. Last month, Palin appeared accepting yet unhappy with the forthcoming film, saying that she would simply "grit my teeth and bear whatever comes" with it.
