Spiderwebs In Trees: Pakistan Floods Cause Incredible Phenomenon (PHOTOS)

What's going on in these pictures is incredible.

It seems that the waters from last year's floods in Pakistan forced millions of spiders into these trees, creating these impressive images, according to the UK Department For International Development (DFID). Apparently the water took so long to recede that the spiders eventually turned the trees into cocoons.

While the DFID has been doing its part to help the flood survivors recover, including providing clean drinking water, medical support, and food, the spiders seem to be doing their part as well.

They may be reducing the spread of malaria. According to Wired and the DFID, the spiders' massive webs are likely capturing malaria-spreading mosquitos, thus preventing the disease from spreading.

While the webs may have created an erie landscape, the areas in which they appear seem to have significantly fewer dangerous mosquitos than expected.

The chain of life is amazing. Next, birds will feast on the fatjuicy spiders, larger prey will get the birds and on up the food chain. Simply amazing. Spiders are okay as long as they stay away from me. If I find one in the house I try to scoop it up on a paper and put it outside. But if it crawled up my arm, all bets are off.

Wow, that's incredible. I feel better knowing that after we either cause our own extinction, or fail to work together to prevent an external extinction, nature will always find a way to rebound and balance.

I am amazed we don't see more of this. Makes a lot of sense from the prey perspective.

It is pretty fascinating the way nature helps itself. If humans weren't here I am sure the Earth would be an incredible planet.

This is cool!

It's a demonstration of survival of the fittest at its best. Just think what their offspring will be like.

The female lays about 30,000 eggs and dies shortly afterwards with other spiders taking care of them. Their life span is about 2 years. It won't take many generations before a very large, eight legged, six foot tall male develops.

These trees can be for arachnid evaluation as the Galapagos are to birds and turtles.

The trees look like giant cotton candy. I'd rather have spiders than mosquitoes.
