Entourage Cast Members To Bid On Mets

Entourage Mets

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 04/02/11 01:52 PM ET Updated: 06/02/11 06:12 AM ET

It seems the sale of the Mets has attracted some big names, including some of the genius behind HBO's hit, Entourage.

And the fit might be perfect. According to the New York Daily News, producer Doug Ellin is a part of a group of bidders that would like a stake in the team.

If the group can broker a deal for a minority stake in the team Ellin will enlist the help of stars like Kevin Connelly and Kevin Dillon, reports Yahoo News.

Connelly referred to the principals as "genius marketers," according to the Daily News. All three are long-time Mets fans, with passion for the team beyond what they've shown on the show.

"I'm a giant sports fan and to be involved in a professional sports franchise would be a dream come true," Connelly told the Daily News. "Growing up on Long Island, I was a giant Mets fan, so that makes it even more of a dream come true."

Mets have terrible ownership; they built a $1B stadium that no one can hit in...a true black hole...and signed players they should never have targeted

If there was something to make a person like me dislike the Mets more it would be the involvement of the cast of Entourage.

With shortstop being so shallow this year, Reyes will be a great deal for a team that's not the mets.

Good for them if they are able to pull it off and get a piece of the team!

I know the Yankees (and I hate 'em, too BTW) have been around a while, but I didn't realize they have been here since the 11th century.

I'm going to enjoy watching the Mets implode, unload talent at fire sale prices and then end up bankrupt. Bernie Maddoff, you are a great New Yorker!

How goes the actors as investors thing?
06:37 PM on 04/02/2011
He wasn't much of an actor, but W made out huge on his minority stake in the Rangers.

Yeah, read up on the history of that association (W. and the Rangers) and find out that the outcome would have been significantly different if the investor had been anyone other than the son of George HW Bush.
