Jake Gyllenhaal & Nicholas Cage On 'SNL' Weekend Update (VIDEO)

Gyllenhaal Cage Snl

First Posted: 04/03/11 02:03 PM ET Updated: 06/03/11 06:12 AM ET

What are the classic hallmarks of a Nicholas Cage movie? 1) It combines time travel and screaming, and 2) The actors are paid. Until 'Source Code' there has never been a movie that fit that description that Nicholas Cage wasn't in.

So that was the issue that Cage, played with the appropriate mix of abrupt rage and disconcerting mellowness by Andy Samberg, attempted to get to the bottom of on Weekend Update's "Get In The Cage." The segment featured a surprise cameo with "Source Code" star Jake Gyllenhaal, who learned that he lacked the key quality of being a film star: "a hairline that's constantly moving up and down your skull." Advantage: Cage.

If you look at the main page, you'll see that weekend comedy for this site is comprised of whatever skits could be grabbed from SNL.

when will they learn how to build a skit? it's always just a single gag being repeated until the next commercial break.

I watched him recently in Netflix released "Brothers." He is a looker. These Gyllenhaal siblings are (with Maggie in her solo starring role "The Secretary") are definitely an artistic bunch.

Why bother posting a clip when you can't view it.

Thank you. NBC has the absolute WORST internet media performance. A few years back I downloaded their "media player" so I could watch episodes of "Life", and the damn thing never really worked. You were supposed to be able to "subscribe" and build a library (much like an online DVR), but the "service" only worked once, and the playback was so glitchy as to be unwatchable. Many of their clips here on HP are just as bad. I just don't get why they are unable to come up with anything better. All the other networks have done it, and it's not like NBC lacks the resources or anything.

There's a term for JG's "cameo" appearance
on SNL: it's called product placement. Aren't
the corporate suits pushing some movie that
he's in?
