Kiara Faniel , 14-Year-Old Girl, Shot After Softball Game On The South Side (VIDEO)

WATCH: Girl Shot In Leg After South Side Softball Game

Kiara Faniel, a freshman Morgan Park High School, was celebrating her school's win over Chicago International Charter School-Longwood on Tuesday evening, when she heard a man shouting at the Longwood team. The man had been heckling Morgan Park all night, Kiara remembered to the Chicago Tribune.

Then, the shots rang out.

At first, she thought the sounds were fireworks. But her coach told the team, "It's real! It's real! Get down!" she said.

After six shots, the man took off running, and Kiara got on the team bus with her classmates. Only minutes later, when she saw blood pooling on her softball pants, did she realize she'd been hit, the Trib writes .

Her mother took her to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Fortunately for the fourteen-year-old, the bullet went through her leg and didn't hit any major arteries. Doctors say she might be able to play again in a few weeks.

No arrests have been made in the shootings thus far.
