Sarkozy Threatened To 'Smash The Face' Of Editor After Carla Bruni Maneater Remarks, New Biography Claims

French President Threatened Editor For Suggesting His Wife Was A Maneater

French President Nicolas Sarkozy threatened to "smash the face" of a political editor whose magazine suggested that his wife Carla Bruni was promiscuous, a new biography alleges.

As the BBC is reporting, Le Point editor Franz-Olivier Giesbert gives a blow-by-blow account of a 2008 conversation with Sarkozy in his new book, M. Le President or Mr President, Scenes From Political Life 2005-2011. According to Giesbert's book, which went on sale Thursday, the president berated him for about 40 minutes after Le Point ran an article that offered "24 tips" to Sarkozy ahead of his wedding to Bruni, a former Italian supermodel.

Among the advice offered, according to the Telegraph: "Do not introduce your new wife to your sons, Barack Obama or any handsome men."

An excerpt from the outburst, according to the BBC:

Sarkozy: "This article is disgusting and I should smash your face in."

Giesbert: "Are you threatening me?"

Sarkozy: "You deserve it. I don't know what's stopping me. What would you do if I wrote that your wife was a whore that slept with everyone and even wanted to have sex with your children? You'll see what I'm going to do to you."

Bruni is known for her colorful dating history, which allegedly includes relationships with Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton and Donald Trump, among others. She is quoted by the Daily Mail as having once declared she was "easily bored by monogamy."
